Business Analytics Director manages and oversees business analytics projects and processes to provide data-driven insights related to business performance used to advise and develop strategies for operational improvements and future business initiatives. Utilizes KPIs, business performance data, industry trends, competitor intelligence, and customer information to develop analytical tools, reports, and models across the organization to inform and support decision-making. Being a Business Analytics Director consults with stakeholders to understand the business model, objectives, issues, and challenges that analytics can support. Develops standards and collection processes to support robust analytics and reporting data pipelines. Additionally, Business Analytics Director builds teams with statistical methods, modeling, analytical methodologies, and data analysis skills to support the business. Requires a bachelor's degree in finance, statistics or a quantitative field. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Business Analytics Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Business Analytics Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Data Analytics Department Head

  • Bridgerland Technical College is looking for a Data Analytics Department Head. This person will be expected to meet the following requirements:

    Qualifications:

    High school diploma with four or more years of experience with data and database tools in industry, or Bachelor's degree and one year industry experience. Proficient in collecting, cleaning, and analyzing data using a programming language. Experience in both Python and R is preferred. Proficient in pulling and analyzing data from a relational database. Proficient in using data visualization tools to present on data. Must have the ability to clearly, effectively, and professionally communicate with students, parents, staff, administration, and community members.

    Essential Duties:

    • Oversee the Data Analytics program, including graduates and placement of graduates in jobs
    • Maintain close consultation with industry partners
    • Teach courses in the program
    • Administers affairs of the appropriate College department
    • Arranges schedules of classes and assigns teaching staff to conduct classes
    • Prepares lists of budgetary and other needs
    • Interviews applicants for teaching positions
    • Conducts regular departmental meetings and keeps appropriate records of such meetings
    • Performs other administrative duties in addition to teaching assignments
    • Plans, provides, and evaluates, with the active participation of department staff as appropriate, the service to students
    • Demonstrate leadership and management skills to effectively motivate students and instructors
    • Maintain connections with industry professionals to stay abreast of industry changes, easily adapt to those changes, and progress to meet the needs of the local industry workforce demands

    Teaching:

    • Plans, develops, and presents organized learning opportunities for students in accordance with approved course outlines in topics relating their specific curriculum
    • Supervises the safety of students in the classroom/lab

    Curriculum Responsibilities:

    • Plans, implements, and monitors for all courses (in conjunction with the staff of the department) appropriate syllabi and instructional materials, which include clearly identified objectives shared with the students
    • Encourages varied methods of teaching and learning, appropriate to the abilities and aspirations of the students and which enable them to take maximum responsibility for their own learning
    • Prepares (in conjunction with the appropriate members of the instructional team of the College) the annual analysis of the staffing needs of the department according to the current staffing policy of the College
    • Prepares (in conjunction with the appropriate members of the instructional team of the College) the annual teaching time-table of the department

    Communication Responsibilities:

    • Establishes a professional rapport with students, staff, and administration with respect for all parties
    • Communicates effectively at all levels of responsibility including the ability to communicate in English (both orally and in writing) using proper grammar and vocabulary
    • Completes required reporting in a timely manner
    • Answers correspondence promptly
    • Provides adequate out-of-class communication opportunities with students
    • Participates in department and College meetings as appropriate
    • Schedule and participate in the work of the program advisory committees
    • Represents the College to external constituencies as appropriate
    • Seek to promote a spirit of collegiality in dealings with College staff
    • Protect confidentiality of all student records and information required by local, state, and national regulations

    Student, Assessment, Reporting, and Supporting:

    • Ensures the efficient administration of a program
    • Provides student support in assessment , academic progress, attendance, and soft skills
    • Ensures accurate and up-to-date records of student achievement and attendance are kept within the department
    • Communicates outcome results including completion, placement, and licensure (when applicable) to Student Services in a timely manner (within the one-year reporting period)
    • Ensures identification of students who are experiencing difficulties and verifies support and direction is given to them, with notification provided to appropriate personal

    Leadership:

    • Mentors faculty in maintaining a positive attitude, leading by example, demonstrating support for administration
    • Providing support and direction to accomplish College goals
    • Demonstrates excellent integrity through good moral character and practicing excellent workplace skills
    • Maintains positive, cooperative and mutually supportive relationships with administration, staff, students, parents, and external parties
    • Serve as a role model for students and staff by dressing professionally
    • Demonstrating the importance of continually learning working collaboratively with College staff, faculty, and administration
    • Accepting responsibility for program outcomes and reporting
    • Assures compliance with accreditation standards including the self-study narrative, compliance exhibits, outcome verification, advisory meetings, employer verification form submission, etc.
    • Verifies compliance with College publication standards

    Finance and Resource Management:

    • Manages the budget devolved to the department, ensuring its efficient use and that limits are not exceeded
    • Orders and allocates materials and equipment as appropriate
    • Advises Administration of the College on the resource and accommodation requirements of the department
    • Provides departmental statistics as required for College bodies, outside agencies, etc.
    • Maintains an up-to-date inventory of equipment and resources
    • Ensures, as far as possible, that the department equipment and resources are maintained in good order and that the rooms allocated for the department's use are cared for and offer an attractive and educationally stimulating environment for students
    • Provides annual inventory data (when applicable) to the Finance Office by July 15

    Media Services:

    • Responsible for implementation and coordination of media services
    • Maintains inventory of current media resources including reference books, periodicals, technical manuals, videos, etc. provided through the student portal in compliance with federal disclosure requirements
    • Provides annual inventories as requested
    • Provides equipment and media requests as appropriate
    • Requests repair, maintenance, and/or replacement of media, equipment and/or supplies as needed

    Personnel:

    • Contributes to the process of recruiting and appointing staff to the department
    • Designs and implements an appropriate training plan for the introduction of new staff and (where appropriate) staff who are taking on new responsibilities, in consultation with the appropriate member of the Administration of the College
    • Participates in conducting department performance appraisals in a fair and consistent manner that encourages growth and accountability
    • Assists departmental faculty/staff in developing and implementing goals and strategies for improvement
    • Coordinates work distribution arising from staff absences
    • Ensures equitable, varied teaching loads within the department
    • Ensures adherence to College policies, regulations, and plans regarding student and staff health and safety

    Professional Development:

    • Maintain competency and currency in the subject matter of courses taught and in teaching skills
    • Continues to grow professionally through collaboration with industry specialists and annual professional growth experience

    Liaison with Outside College:

    • Attends Faculty Senate meetings
    • Liaises with other department heads and instructional team as appropriate on the work of the College as a whole
    • Maintains links with partner schools, higher education and outside agencies in accordance with College policies
    • Ensures the preparation of up-to-date and appropriate liaison and publicity material in accordance with College guidelines
    • Encourages the participation of all the staff of the department as appropriate in liaison with students and parents in accordance with College policy
    • Promotes awareness within the department of equal opportunities and policies.
