Building and Grounds Supervisor supervises and trains building and grounds maintenance staff. Oversees landscaping activities, the maintenance of sidewalks and parking areas, and the removal of trash and snow. Being a Building and Grounds Supervisor maintains and monitors the operation of all utility systems such as heating, ventilating and air conditioning. May be responsible for the housekeeping staff. Additionally, Building and Grounds Supervisor, a level I supervisor is considered a working supervisor with little authority for personnel actions. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Working team member that may validate or coordinate the work of others on a support team. Suggests improvements to process, is a knowledge resource for other team members. Has no authority for staff actions. Generally has a minimum of 2 years experience as an individual contributor. Duties/Responsibilities: Under the direction of the Member Engagement Coordinator, the Building Supervisor is responsible for engaging with and providing quality customer service to our members and guests. The person is responsible for opening and closing the YMCA, monitoring security procedures and facility operations in accordance with the YMCA policies and procedures. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Ability to build relationships with our members and guests with a positive and pleasant personality.
Ability to sell memberships; register members and participants for classes and programs, and provide guidance in relation to program offerings and activities. Applies excellent communication skills during phone calls and tours to understand prospects’ needs and create interest in YMCA membership. Maintains and, when necessary, applies knowledge of the pool, healthy living center, strength training center, wellness center, and the rules and regulations of each area. Punctual for all shifts. Ability to supervise staff and volunteers. Oversee the buildings and grounds to ensure a safe environment that adheres to the safety standards and policies of the YMCA.
Maintain CPR certifications and attend all mandatory meetings and trainings. Handles and resolves membership concerns and informs supervisor of unusual situations or unresolved issues. Complete incident and accident reports when necessary. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community. Monitor facility for safety and service interventions.

EDUCATION LEVEL DESIRED/SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS: * High school diploma or GED.
Must be at least 21 years of age.
CPR, First Aid, and AED training required within 60 days of hire. Ability to communicate effectively with supervisor, staff, member, guests, and participants. Must have a flexible schedule including some evenings and weekends. Perform other duties as assigned.
