Building and Grounds Supervisor jobs in North Carolina

Building and Grounds Supervisor supervises and trains building and grounds maintenance staff. Oversees landscaping activities, the maintenance of sidewalks and parking areas, and the removal of trash and snow. Being a Building and Grounds Supervisor maintains and monitors the operation of all utility systems such as heating, ventilating and air conditioning. May be responsible for the housekeeping staff. Additionally, Building and Grounds Supervisor, a level I supervisor is considered a working supervisor with little authority for personnel actions. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Working team member that may validate or coordinate the work of others on a support team. Suggests improvements to process, is a knowledge resource for other team members. Has no authority for staff actions. Generally has a minimum of 2 years experience as an individual contributor.     Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

    • Cleans warehouse and outside buildings, parking lots and the property perimeter
    • Mops, sweeps and scrubs warehouse floors and walls
    • Empties trash cans, and bins
    • Cleans offices and restrooms
    • Cleans pick slots and under racking
    • Works safely with approved chemicals
    • Works safely with sweepers, scrubbers, forklifts, balers, compactors, pressure washers
    • and pallet jacks
    • Properly scans and processes damaged orphan cases and reclaim items
    • Properly processes plastic and cardboard for recycling
    • Follows Company policy
    • Follows Company's safety policies and procedures
    • Other duties as may be assigned or required.

    Education/Experience:

    High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Language Ability:

    Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information one-on-one to other associates of the organization.

    Math Ability:

    Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

    Reasoning Ability:

    Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

    Computer Skills:

    To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of TRICEPS

    Certificates and Licenses:

    Ability to successfully pass Industrial Equipment Certification Test

    Must be at least 18 years of age
