Building and Grounds Supervisor supervises and trains building and grounds maintenance staff. Additionally, Building and Grounds Supervisor, a level I supervisor is considered a working supervisor with little authority for personnel actions. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. The person who joins us will be responsible for planning, organizing, managing, and evaluating the care of the exterior of our buildings and our grounds and gardens in a way that is supportive of other departments, meets brand standards, and is operationally efficient.
Essential Responsibilities
· Recruits, hires, trains, manages, coaches, and motivates the buildings and grounds team to properly maintain the exterior of the resort's buildings and its grounds and its ski area with costs at or below its budget.
· Schedules working hours for all buildings and grounds team members and assigns tasks to each team member for every working day.
· Reports on labor hours and purchases on time on a weekly basis.
· Purchases, stores, and secures summer and winter maintenance supplies.
· Purchases, maintains, and repairs tools and equipment.
· Organizes and maintains the department's parking lot, storage spaces, shop, offices, and employee housing to be safe, healthy, and attractive work spaces in compliance with state and federal laws just as Fast Cap does.
· Maintains the department's vehicles and equipment to make them fully operational, safe, and long-lasting.
· Prepares the annual budgets for operations and capital expenditures
Required Qualifications
· High school diploma
· At least five years of work experience
· Three or more years of grounds or property management experience
· Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
· Valid Michigan driver's license
· Able to pass a substance abuse test
Working Conditions:
· Many tasks are performed outdoors in all seasons and all weather. Outdoor working conditions include temperatures from below 0°F to over 80° F, full sun, rain, high humidity, snow, freezing rain, and sleet.
· Some tasks are performed indoors. Indoor working conditions include dust, dirt, loud noise, and chemical process fumes.
· Outdoor and indoor work requires standing, walking, bending, stooping, reaching and operating equipment for extended periods of time. Typically, 70% - 90% of the workday is standing on feet.
· Some work requires lifting up to 10 pounds regularly, up to 50 pounds frequently, and more than 100 pounds occasionally. Typically, this work involves loading, unloading, and moving groundskeeping supplies, ski areas supplies, construction materials, medium to heavy weight tools, and equipment.
· Some work requires wearing Personal Protective Equipment which the Manager must have the ability to wear.
· Some work involves the operation of equipment which the Manager must be able to operate or be able to be trained to operate.
· Schedule will include some weekends, and holidays.
