Building and Grounds Supervisor supervises and trains building and grounds maintenance staff. Being a Building and Grounds Supervisor maintains and monitors the operation of all utility systems such as heating, ventilating and air conditioning. May be responsible for the housekeeping staff. Additionally, Building and Grounds Supervisor, a level I supervisor is considered a working supervisor with little authority for personnel actions. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Working team member that may validate or coordinate the work of others on a support team. Suggests improvements to process, is a knowledge resource for other team members. Has no authority for staff actions. Generally has a minimum of 2 years experience as an individual contributor.     Job Distinctions:
    Differs from Custodian by the added responsibility for maintaining the grounds, working the fee station, assisting visitors, and performing general maintenance tasks.

    Differs from Maintenance Repairer 1 by lack of responsibility for repair and maintenance of equipment and of structural components of buildings.The purpose of this position is to assist in maintaining the cleanliness of the parks buildings and facilities, to assist the administrative staff in the collection of appropriate fees and/or to conduct preventive and corrective maintenance to state park facilities.

    75%   Custodial Duty
             •   Performs any and all custodial duties necessary to maintain clean and sanitary conditions.
             •  Cleans guest cabins, campgrounds, bathrooms, picnic areas offices, meeting rooms, hallways, visitor/nature center,       playgrounds, splash pad, and any other assigned areas by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, dusting, and polishing with tools and cleaners designed for those purposes.
    • Scrub bathroom fixtures, toilet, sink, and bathtub; gather and remove all used towels after guest departure in accordance with proper procedure; sweep and mop floor, restock with clean towels and toilet paper.
    • Cleans and disinfects cabins by sanitizing countertop, sink, utensils, dishes, refrigerator etc.; sweep, mop, dust, remove trash, vacuum cloth furniture/rugs, and gather used linens to take for washing after guest departure in accordance with proper procedure.
    • Empties and disinfects/decontaminates trash containers. Properly disposes of infectious waste in accordance with rules and regulations.
    • Pick up and dispose of outdoor trash/debris on park grounds and campsites.
    • Moves, rearranges, and dusts all furniture and fixtures with appropriate products in assigned area.
    •  Washes blinds, windows, and walls with related equipment such as squeegees, cleaning cloths, and appropriate cleaning solutions.
    • Operates vacuum for cleaning carpeted areas.
    • Strip bedding and gather used towels in cabins after guest departure and transports to designated area for washing
    • Folds towels and linens when assigned
    • Stocks cabins with clean towels and linens prior to guest arrival
    • Ensures all cleaning equipment is in good condition and functional after every use; replaces any dirty or broken parts.
    • Reports all safety hazards, broken equipment, and electrical fixtures in need of major repair to Supervisor
    • Remove water from wet surfaces inside buildings and set out/pick up wet floor signs accordingly.

    15%  Equipment Operation
    •  Use and maintain assigned power equipment and hand tools; buffers, auto scrubbers, extractors, high pressure washers, high speed buffers and vacuums, brooms, mops, and squeegees for the cleaning and general maintenance of floors, walls carpets, furniture, etc.
     
    10%       Other Functions
    • Performs and related duties necessary to maintain and improve the appearance of the site to enhance the visitor's experience.
    • Assists other personnel in the completion of their work for the purpose of support and to supplement in times of staff shortage

    Physical Demands
    • Requires ability to stoop, bend, balance, kneel, crouch, sit and stand on a regular daily basis
    • Lift and/or move objects up to 45 pounds including equipment and machinery as part of the job duties

    Performs other related duties as assigned and performs customer service to a high degree of excellence.
