Building and Grounds Supervisor supervises and trains building and grounds maintenance staff. Oversees landscaping activities, the maintenance of sidewalks and parking areas, and the removal of trash and snow. Being a Building and Grounds Supervisor maintains and monitors the operation of all utility systems such as heating, ventilating and air conditioning. May be responsible for the housekeeping staff. Additionally, Building and Grounds Supervisor, a level I supervisor is considered a working supervisor with little authority for personnel actions. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Working team member that may validate or coordinate the work of others on a support team. Position Summary: Under the direct supervision of the Building and Grounds Director this position performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled tasks in the maintenance, cleaning, remodel, and repair of buildings, equipment, machinery, and grounds. Skills required include but are not limited to carpentry, electrical, plumbing, general maintenance, and repair. This employee supervises all staff assigned to maintenance tasks and works alongside them to ensure a quality result. This employee coordinates all staff assigned to custodial tasks and works alongside them to ensure a quality result. Skills required include but are not limited to the general knowledge of proper cleaning standards, methods, supplies, and commercial cleaning equipment.

SKILLS & ABILITIES
Experience: Experience in commercial or agricultural maintenance and/or electrical, plumbing, carpentry, or related field required. Supervisory or team lead experience preferred, or any equivalent combination of training and experience is preferred. Experience as a custodian or commercial cleaner is required. Some supervisory experience is preferred.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Formal vocational training preferred.
Skills: Knowledge of the standard methods, equipment, materials, tools, and practices of the carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and locksmith trades. Thorough knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the construction trades. Knowledge of the standard methods, equipment, materials, tools, and practices of the care and cleaning of commercial or public buildings. Thorough knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of custodial work including hazardous chemicals used or encountered.
