Building Inspector, Sr. inspects initial construction and additional repairs to ensure adherence to contract specifications, building ordinances, and zoning laws. May be assigned to residential or commercial structures. Being a Building Inspector, Sr. may require an advanced degree. Typically reports to supervisor or manager. The Building Inspector, Sr. gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. The residential Solar QA Inspector-Contractor performs quality assurance inspection services and reporting of residential solar system installations to ensure compliance with product manufacturers’ installation instructions, building/ electrical/ mechanical/ plumbing codes and standards, and industry best practices.
A person in this position is expected to demonstrate
(a) Expertise in Photovoltaic (PV) technologies and installation practices; including ability to recognize quality practices and methods associated with such installations. This language was changed prior to initiating “track changes” feature.
(b) Knowledge as to the application of corresponding building, electrical, and fire codes;
(c) Professionalism in customer relations with all levels of clients and coworkers;
(d) Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of stakeholders; and the
(e) Ability to successfully complete projects on time. Removed “and on budget” as this position does not require management of any budgets.
