Budget Manager manages and coordinates budgeting activities and the implementation of the organization's budget policies and guidelines. Monitors actual performance against estimates and prepares annual and interim budgets. Being a Budget Manager coordinates budget appropriations and responds to exception requests for funds. Monitors and analyzes performance against budgets. Additionally, Budget Manager implements and supports tools and reporting used for planning, forecasting, monitoring, and decision support. Requires a bachelor's degree in accounting. Typically reports to a director. The Budget Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Budget Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Assumes responsibility for overseeing and actively planning and managing the business and budgeting services performed in the College in an effort to ensure prudent fiscal oversight as well as effective and efficient operations. Performs all duties in full support of the University's mission, understanding that the positive and effective execution of these duties are instrumental to the education of the University's students.

    Description of Key Responsibility: Develops and audits reports regardinng the Colleges fiscal operations in an effort to ensure prudent budgetary oversight. Serves as the centralized control point for all expenditures within the College. Apportions money for anticipated and unanticipated goods and services purchased for departments and the College. Serves as a primary liaison in the coordination of purchases for the departments and the College as necessary and/or appropriate. Initiates and approves budget transfers and purchase orders. *

    Description of Key Responsibility: Develops and maintains external grants and contract budgets in collaboration with principle investigators (PIs) and or institutes and center directors.

    Description of Key Responsibility: Prepares detailed statistical and other financial reports on a regular basis to be used in the decision making process. Analyzes financial data and makes recommendations to Department Chairs and the Dean regarding the most cost-effective use of resources. Reviews budgetary projections and actual operating results, identifying potential discrepencies and proposing possible solutions. *

    Description of Key Responsibility: Analyzes, monitors and oversees the use of financial, business, fund accounting and administrative services systems across the College. Implements system upgrades and establishes new systems as necessary and/or appropriate. Enforces appropriate financial controls, policies and procedures to ensure the integrity of these systems in compliance with estabished data integrity standards. *

    Description of Key Responsibility: Establishes, cultivates and maintains effective working relationships with various internal constituents including, but not limited to, Financial Accounting Services, the Budget Office and Payroll, the Office of Development and the Office of Sponsored Programs regarding financial and budgetary planning and implementation efforts.
