Budget Analyst - Wind Sites

Job Summary

The Wind Budget Analyst position will provide overall accounting/budgeting expertise and analysis for all 15 of Southern Power Company's Wind sites, both self-perform and third party. This position will develop, implement and maintain O&M and Capital accounting, budgeting, and reporting processes for the current year and long-range budgets. This position will report directly to the Wind Fleet General Manager.

Additional responsibilities include:

• Monthly and year-end reforecasting, actuals review, variance explanations

• Preparation of monthly accruals for submittal to Accounting

• Invoice coding and reconciliation

• Active membership in the Budget Operations Review Board representing Wind

• Ownership of the annual O&M and Capital budget development process

• Receiving materials and services, review packing slips, file paperwork

• Wind Team Timekeeper and Expenses

• Support Solar Budget Analysts and overall Renewables Financial Plan

• Miscellaneous administrative duties in support of site personnel and management

Note: The position can be based at any SPC facility or office with the potential for hybrid work. Overnight travel is required but is not frequent.

Educational Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance strongly preferred.

• Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) required.

• Knowledge of Southern Company budgeting principles a plus.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Experience in budgeting, accounting, and/or finance is preferred.

• Must possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Must consistently demonstrate accuracy and attention to detail across multiple work assignments.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate at all levels within the organization and corporate environments.

• Ability to review budget/actual/forecast variances and provide assessment analysis based on trends.

• Ability to review invoices for accuracy (check contract rates, T&M, verify % complete, verify current balance due, etc.)

• Advanced computer skills with Excel strongly preferred; knowledge with Oracle and/or Maximo is a plus.
