Description
Will be responsible for efficiently coordinating the movement of our fleet of trucks, ensuring timely deliveries, and maintaining communication with drivers and clients. Likewise you will be responsible for working with brokers and our carrier partners. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, the ability to multitask effectively, and a strong understanding of logistics and transportation.
-Route Planning and Dispatching:
Plan and coordinate truck routes to ensure the most efficient use of resources and timely delivery of goods.
Assign drivers to routes, considering factors such as driver experience, vehicle type, and delivery schedule.
Communicate any route changes or delays to drivers promptly.
-Monitoring and Tracking:
Monitor the progress of drivers and shipments throughout the day.
Utilize GPS tracking systems and other software to ensure drivers are following designated routes and schedules.
Update customers on the status of their shipments and provide accurate delivery estimates.
-Communication:
Serve as the primary point of contact for drivers and customers.
Communicate effectively with drivers, providing them with all necessary information and instructions.
Address any issues or concerns that arise during transportation, such as accidents, traffic, or mechanical problems.
-Problem Solving:
Resolve logistical problems in real-time to ensure on-time deliveries.
Coordinate with maintenance and repair teams to address any mechanical issues with trucks or trailers promptly.
Act quickly to reroute drivers in the event of road closures, accidents, or other unexpected delays.
-Documentation:
Maintain accurate records of driver logs, vehicle inspections, and other required paperwork.
Ensure all necessary documentation is completed accurately and submitted on time.
Prepare and distribute daily, weekly, and monthly reports as required.
-Customer Service:
Provide excellent customer service by addressing customer inquiries, concerns, and complaints promptly and professionally.
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients by providing reliable and efficient service.
Requirements
-High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in logistics or a related field is a plus.
-Proven experience as a dispatcher or in a similar role within the transportation industry.
-Strong knowledge of transportation regulations and procedures.
-Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
-Proficiency in using transportation management software and GPS tracking systems.
