    Purpose of Classification:
    The purpose of this classification is to maintain television production and broadcasting equipment. 

    Essential Functions: 
    The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude 
    them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties 
    may be required and assigned.

    Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff; develops and oversees employee work schedules 
    to ensure adequate coverage and control; compiles and reviews timesheets; approves/processes 
    employee concerns and problems and counsels or disciplines as appropriate; completes employee 
    performance appraisals; directs work; acts as a liaison between employees and department 
    director; and trains staff in operations, policies, and procedures.


    Organizes, prioritizes, and assigns work; prioritizes and schedules work activities in order to meet 
    objectives; ensures that subordinates have the proper resources needed to complete the assigned 
    work; monitors status of work in progress and inspects completed work; consults with assigned 
    staff to assist with complex/problem situations and provide technical expertise; and provides 
    progress and activity reports to department director.


    Coordinates audiovisual technical team and vendors for field productions; assigns technical teams 
    for events; manages pre-and post-production activities; coordinates equipment repair and 
    maintenance; and conducts site visits to create or verify technical plans for field shoots.


    Operates a wide variety of equipment, systems, and technology related to audio/video and 
    broadcast operations, including television broadcasting and cable systems, analog and digital 
    audio/video production equipment, production consoles and switchers, audio and video editing 
    systems, playout systems, video cameras, viewing and duplicating equipment, lighting consoles, 
    studio lights, teleprompters, monitors, and related technology; checks and tests equipment daily; 
    operates, calibrates, and makes adjustments to equipment; and assists and instructs co-workers in 
    equipment use.


    Maintains and repairs a wide variety of television production and broadcasting equipment, 
    systems, and technology: creates and implements maintenance and calibration schedule for all 
    equipment; cleans and performs routine maintenance on all equipment; utilizes equipment 
    manuals, CAD drawings, and other technical materials to analyze and resolve problems; 
    troubleshoots problems and failures; repairs, replaces, or modifies equipment both in the office 
    and on location; and performs regular quality and continuity checks on all broadcast channels, live 
    streaming and web content. 


    Operates transmitters and associated broadcasting equipment in accordance with Federal 
    Communications Commission regulations; and ensures equipment provides and sustains a quality 
    signal. 


    Installs new equipment and systems: identifies broadcasting equipment needs; makes equipment 
    upgrade and purchase recommendations; and assembles and installs equipment.


    Trains production and editing staff; conducts informal training sessions with production and 
    editing staff on new or upgraded equipment; and trains audio and video equipment users on correct 
    operation and field maintenance. 
     

    Minimum Qualifications: 
    Associate’s degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or related field; three years of experience 
    in the maintenance and repair of television broadcasting equipment; or any equivalent combination 
    of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities 
    for this job. 
     

    Specific License or Certification Required: Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s 
    license.
