Senior RF & Microwave Wireless Technician

  • Responsible for the testing, troubleshooting, alignment, integration and repair of Digital RF and microwave transmitters and receivers and associated equipment for remote receive sites. Tasks are geared towards the maintenance of existing equipment and manufacturing test of new devices. Equipment is used for providing digital wireless video and audio for live television broadcasts.

    Responsibilities

    • Programming and test of DVB-T TXs and RXs, H.264 and HEVC decoders and RF down convertors. Working frequency spectrum covers DC to 7GHz.
    • Diagnose potential causes of RF and microwave equipment malfunctions as it relates to digital video and audio using knowledge of equipment and/or technical drawings.
    • Troubleshoots malfunctions related to RF and microwave equipment and proposes solutions or modifications to avoid future failures. Performs repairs to equipment as required.
    • Implements product improvements required to meet customer requirements.
    • Uses test equipment including but not limited to Signal/Spectrum Analyzers, RF and Fiber Optic Power Meters, Vector Network Analyzers, RF and Vector Signal Generators, Audio Analyzer/Generators, Oscilloscopes and Digital Video Waveform Monitors.
    • Programs new products and upgrades existing products with the latest firmware revisions using programming tools as required. Use current database to track the latest revisions.
    • Interfaces with Engineering and Remote Ops to diagnose problems and to help resolve issues.
    • PoC when the department Supervisor is not available for that day.

    Position Requirements:

    • Minimum of (5 ) years’ experience low volume-high mix products
    • Ability to read schematics for analog, digital, RF and microwave circuits and assembly drawings
    • Familiar with RF filters, RF amps, transmission lines, antennas, PLL circuits, LNAs, LNBs, modulators, and demodulators
    • Experience with RF devices up to 7GHz.
    • Knowledge or experience in any of the following areas: RF transmission, analog or digital video, and fiber optics
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
    • Must be strong and/or advanced in Excel
    • Self-directed & self-motivated
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
