Bricklaying Supervisor supervises and directs a crew and other personnel engaged in masonry installation projects. Coordinates the activities of workers engaged in laying brick, tile, cinderblock, and other materials to construct or repair structures. Being a Bricklaying Supervisor checks the quality of work performed and directs clean up of job site. Requires a thorough knowledge of all types, shapes, and brands of bricks, mortars, and patching materials, and how to reline the ladles, tundishes and the furnace. Additionally, Bricklaying Supervisor requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a melt shop general supervisor or maintenance general supervisor. Working team member that may validate or coordinate the work of others on a support team. Suggests improvements to process, is a knowledge resource for other team members.     JOB SUMMARY:
    The OR Supervisor assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates the care rendered to patients with urgent or emergent health problems. The OR Supervisor has a thorough knowledge of all procedures performed in The Orthopaedic Center at Springhill. The OR Supervisor possesses and further develops good working relationships with coworkers (both in the OR, PACU and Pre-op) and physicians.

    This position is advisory to the Director of Nursing.

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    Two years of operating room experience, preferably in orthopedics. Must have current CPR certification.

    Preferred accomplishments include experience in Orthopaedics and outpatient surgery. Must be able to communicate effectively and have an ability to work compatibly with all physicians and staff. Must receive positive physician reviews. Possess strong organizational skills and a clear understanding of the importance of efficiency and cost effectiveness in an outpatient surgery center.

    Possess the knowledge and clinical skills to perform the job duties of an operating room nurse. Knowledge of aseptic technique and anesthetic agents and complications is required. Must possess a thorough knowledge of all procedures performed in the Surgery Center and be able to circulate all procedures.

    Must have an aptitude for understanding, operating, and troubleshooting
    machines and equipment.

    Must receive positive peer review and maintain good working relationships with other team members.

    Must have received “above standard” or exceeds standard” on previous performance evaluations. Maintains continuous stated standards.

    Must be a full-time employee and be flexible in job duties and work schedule.

    Physical guidelines include ability to stand/walk for up to eight hours per day; bend, stoop, twist; assist patients in turning, rising from recliners and
    stretchers; assist patients in and out of wheelchairs; push wheelchairs; assist with the moving of patients on and off the operating room table. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and carry materials weighing up to 25 pounds.

    INFECTION CONTROL CATEGORY:
    This job is designated as a Category I job using OSHA definitions. This means there are tasks that involve exposure to blood or other potentially infectious material. Use of appropriate protective measures is required for any employee engaged in Category I tasks.

    HIPAA RESPONSIBILITIES:
    Uses and discloses Protected Health Information (PHI) according to the facility’s policies and procedures.

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
    1. Preview AdvantX surgery schedule a minimum of 2 weeks out in order to adjust cases accordingly. Communicate with Surgery Schedulers to make adjustments as needed. Prepare the staff assignments for the OR schedule daily; if changes occur to the schedule, the OR Supervisor is responsible for arranging the required staff coverage.
    2. Monitor staffing hours to minimize overtime. Prepare a monthly late date schedule to cover two rooms.
    3. Assist the Materials Coordinator to maintain adequate inventory levels, while containing costs. Also, participate with quarterly inventory.
    4. Make sure that all necessary equipment/supplies is available for procedures each day.
    5. Communicate directly with physicians about their equipment and staffing needs in the OR.
    6. Meet or exceed established room turnover time standards.
    7. The overall objective is to facilitate smooth and efficient running of the OR schedule. Coordinate timing for patients entering recovery and patients ready in Pre-op area with PACU Charge Nurse.
    8. Perform evaluations of all OR staff annually from date of hire. Complete disciplinary forms on employees as indicated.
    9. Participate in interviewing and hiring process of OR staff positions; may present questions at interview and observes/reviews with DON.
    10. Develop and maintain working relationships with sales reps; successfully coordinate equipment evaluations as needed.
    11. Oversee and be familiar with AdvantX chart data entry. Incomplete charts are to be reviewed daily for completion. Develop and revise policies and procedures necessary for the OR; submit to the DON for final approval.
    12. Responsible for monitoring employee time to include lunches, breaks, and LOA forms (vacation, sick, personal, etc).
    13. Responsible for monthly staff meetings and documentation of minutes. A copy of the minutes must be submitted to the DON for review.
    14. Participate with maintenance of AAAHC accreditation and licensure of the facility.
    15. Perform other duties as assigned per DON.
