GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The purpose of this classification is to develop, review, and implement urban and regional plans that improve quality of life in and around Fayette County through professional, technical, and analytical planning.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree in urban planning, civil engineering, geography, geology, environmental services, natural resources or field realted to the area of specialization
- Four (4) years of related planning experience
- Additional years of related education may substitute for years of related experience
- Additional years of related experience may substitute for years of education
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Performs professional and technical planning work requiring advanced technical and / or analytical ability. Work is involved with the development, design, and implementation of urban and regional planning activities in the areas of Planning Services, Long Range Planning, Strategic Planning, Watershed Planning, Environmental Planning, and Natural Resource Management Planning
- Gathers, researches, and analyzes data to make valid conclusions and use for the decision making, planning, implementation of ordinances, and improvements to the development process
- Reviews zone change proposals and subdivision plans relative to the Comprehensive Plan and adopted area plans involved.
- Analyzes environmental impediments to infill and redevelopment projects and makes recommnedations for facilitation of such projects
- Prepares written reports and presentations that detail critical elements of plans
- Formulates, reviews, updates, and / or makes recommendations for changes to policies, plans, or other relative legal documents as needed
- Represents the Division at meetings and events such as, but not limited to, Boards, Committees, Commissions, Council, and professional conferences
- Provieds administrative support to the Greenspace Trust
- Manages contracts and grants and develops documents that track spending and funds
- Facilitates and leads public and stakeholder input and education meetings
- Responds to public and private inquiries related to various projects as they arise
- Performs related work as assigned
SPECIAL LICENSE / CERTIFICATION
AICP certification preferred, but not required
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
