    Job Description:
    Manages clinical breast cancer prevention trial portfolio. Responsible for multiple aspects of execution and oversight of clinical trials. This could include assisting PI with final protocol writing or amendments, protocol set up, initiation and execution and development of study promotional materials. An individual in this position will help with initiation and post initiation questions and issues from outside and Cancer Center accruing sites, assist with oversight of project finances, and co-ordinate project specific processes across multidisciplinary teams including biomarker and data-management.

    This individual will be primarily responsible for setting up and conducting multi-site coordinator meetings and will ensure that operations are conducted in accordance with HIPPA and regulatory guidelines as well as in the delivery of patient care and services in accordance with the mission of the Cancer Center. This individual will work with the PI and co-PIs to develop reports or assemble material for reports as requested and will assist PI in keeping project reporting up to date in ClinicalTrials.gov. This individual will manage, mentor and train study coordinators and will serve as a backup for the study-coordinator if needed.

    Starting salary will be between the minimum and midpoint of the range listed for this position.

    Required Qualifications:
    Education : Bachelor's degree with substantial pre or post degree course work in science or health care related field.
    Work Experience : Four years of clinical research experience. Relevant experience may be substituted for direct clinical research experience. A minimum of two years oncology or preventive oncology experience required.
    Skills : Must have clinical background and knowledge. Must be proficient in medical terminology. Previous experience working in health-care related settings. Adherence to guidelines regarding transparent and honest reporting of confidential and sensitive patient information. Exhibits understanding of the impact of data integrity in terms of patients, study results, costs, quality of service and scientific research in general. Demonstrates the use of sensitivity, tact, and good judgment in communicating with physicians, clinical trials and health system personnel and patients. This position will have daily interaction with clinical research staff, investigators, patients, and clinic staff; therefore, candidate must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills with excellent written and verbal communication skills. Experience with Electronic Medical Record charting. Strong customer service skills. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Superb attention to detail. Ability to multi-task managing multiple and competing priorities. Excellent knowledge of clinical research databases and software. Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively. Excellent organizational skills. Professional knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathology, and pharmacology concepts as they relate to oncology patients. Proficiency in PC operations and software applications such as MS Outlook, Windows, Excel, and Word.

    Preferred Qualifications:
    Education : Master's degree in science or health services related field desirable but not of as great of importance as preferred skill sets.
    Work Experience : Prior Experience as a Clinical trial Project Manager.
    Skills : Present or Prior SOCRA or equivalent Research certification. At least intermediate knowledge of database software programs. Previous clinical trial experience in breast oncology or breast cancer prevention. Experience with or willingness to learn to assist providers who are performing tissue procurement procedures (fine needle aspiration) as part of back up if needed to study coordinator

    Job Duties Outlined:
    Manage and serve as the primary contact for assigned activities. Primary contact for all protocol clarification and logistical project related concerns. Work with PI(s) and co-PIs in the Breast Cancer Prevention Center to assess workflow policies and procedures, as needed to meet goals.

    Facilitate all study startup procedures for new studies. Ensure timelines are measured and deliverables are met as applicable.

    Ensure effective project plans are in place and operational for each trial and work proactively with the clinical trial team to set priorities in accordance with applicable project plans. Ensure potential study risks are escalated to the attention of leadership when appropriate.

    Mentor and train study-coordinators. Develop working practice guidelines and processes for the conduction of study procedures in collaboration with multiple disciplines as applicable. Be able to back up a study coordinator in terms of interaction with potential patients. Back up study coordinator role in terms of assisting providers as they obtain biologic specimens including fine needle aspiration.

    Prepare agenda, manage and facilitate assigned working and execution of group meetings. Aid in study budget preparation and resource planning to accomplish study objectives as applicable.

    Actively participate and help organize meetings with PI, co-investigators, coordinators, and staff meetings as applicable.

    Communicate effectively laterally across the team as well as up and down reporting structures.

    Mentor team members to prioritize, solve problems, and plan contingencies. Delegate activities while retaining ownership. Communicate project findings and priorities. Liaise with senior leadership to optimize performance of project team members.

    Manage project deliverables by monitoring metrics. Prepare, assist, and lead presentations of internal project status to senior leadership, and other stakeholders as needed. Be accountable for follow-up on action items. Take the initiative in identifying, resolving, or escalating issues.

    Aid in study budgetary preparation and resource planning needs to accomplish study objectives.

    Monitor observance of departmental operational policies and guidelines.

    Support PI/upper management through the use of effective tracking tools to provide consistent and accurate project status.

    Participate in Ad hoc projects as assigned.
