Job Summary:
The Management Trainee, under the direction of the Operations Manager and Store Manager(s), will work to learn the equipment and party rental business from a managerial perspective by adhering to and applying the Company’s policies and procedures. The Trainee could be placed in a Party & Event Managerial Role or a Tool & Equipment Managerial role and must be open to both industries.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Making sure rental equipment is “ready to rent” and in good working condition for customers.
- Following company procedures for “downed” or “broken” equipment to minimize downtime.
- Perform preventative maintenance on company equipment and vehicles.
- Train staff and customers on how to use equipment properly and safely.
- Assists in monitoring store performance through daily, weekly, monthly and yearly reports.
- Assists in developing plans to improve store performance.
- Coordinates with the Store Manager and Operations Manager for the smooth operation of the business.
- Assists in interviewing and hiring employees with the department manager.
- Assists department manager in mediating employee disputes.
- Reviews employee job performance reviews.
- Discusses employee work and vacation schedules with department managers.
- Develops and monitors the employee training program.
- Communicates store performance to General Manager.
- Research all safety violations and maintain separate files on each violation.
- Adhere and assure to company policies & procedures.
- Approves merchandise stocking level with Purchasing Coordinator.
- Review equipment recommendations with Purchasing Coordinator.
- Review inventory reports.
- Review and update the rental contracts.
- Forecast income, expense and equipment usage.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly and annual store budgets.
- Review department expenses with appropriate managers.
- Maintain quality control standards.
- File police report on lost or stolen equipment.
- Maintain government safety requirements for store and yard.
- Responsible for the store’s security system and maintenance.
- Supervise maintenance and housekeeping of the facility.
- Assume employee responsibilities when needed.
- Report safety violations to Operations Manager
- Network with other industry professionals.
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures, rules and regulations in written or verbal form.
- Comply with government safety requirements and other regulations and security in the store.
- Represent department at management meetings.
- Conduct department, store and safety meetings.
- Attend department, store and safety meetings.
- Perform other duties as requested.
Qualifications:
- Must have a developed mechanical background to aid in Parts lookup
- Must have parts ordering experience
- Must be able to multitask and keep organized while maintaining a high level of detail
- Must be able to provide, understand and complete written and verbal instructions
- Maintain a cooperative relationship with co-workers and vendors
- Must be able to speak English clearly and legibly
- Must have a valid driver's license
- High school diploma or GED is preferred but not required
