Biomedical Engineering Technician delivers biomedical equipment services that provide safety testing, repair, maintenance, and user support of biomedical clinical and research equipment. Assembles, installs, repairs, and maintains a variety of medical equipment. Being a Biomedical Engineering Technician tests the functionality of equipment and takes accuracy, sensitivity, and selectivity measurements to calibrate devices. Coordinates with medical staff and vendors to troubleshoot problems, resolve equipment malfunctions and enable new devices. Additionally, Biomedical Engineering Technician supports medical staff with equipment operations training. Typically requires an associate degree. Typically requires Biomedical Equipment Technician (BMET). Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Biomedical Engineering Technician works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job.     Sodexo’s growing Healthcare Technology Management (HTM) Division is seeking solution-oriented candidates who excel at customer service with proven success as an experienced Biomedical Equipment Technician II to support services for Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital in Brockton, MA.  

     

    The main role/responsibilities of the Biomedical Equipment Technician 2 will be to ensure all related biomedical equipment is maintained in a quality and timely manner. The ideal candidate will have outstanding customer service skills, strong technical skills and a commitment to deliver excellent repair service in an expedient manner.

     

    The ideal Biomedical Equipment Technician II should have: 

    • minimum of 3 years of experience in electronic, mechanical or electro-mechanical repair in a health care technology setting
    • experience in a hospital or healthcare setting
    • the ability to make decisions regarding troubleshooting and repairing medical devices
    • excellent communication, customer service and time management skills

    Position Summary

    Troubleshoots, inspects, repairs, maintains and calibrates a comprehensive range of clinical equipment, devices, systems and instruments.  Key Duties-Inspect, maintain, repair and calibrate equipment and systems-Ensures regulatory compliance-Provides advanced support of equipment for direct patient care-Interacts on a routine basis with clinical health providers in the identification of technology based problems and solutions-Solves organization-level customer service issues and complaints-Preparing required documentation and reports -Demonstrates a safety mindset -Financial responsibility for purchasing parts and service-Develops staff by teaching and mentoring others

     

     

    Qualifications & Requirements

    Basic Education Requirement - Associates Degree (or equivalent experience) in electronic, biomedical engineering or a discipline geared toward managing maintaining and repairing clinical equipment within a healthcare environment
