Biomedical Engineering Technician delivers biomedical equipment services that provide safety testing, repair, maintenance, and user support of biomedical clinical and research equipment. Assembles, installs, repairs, and maintains a variety of medical equipment. Being a Biomedical Engineering Technician tests the functionality of equipment and takes accuracy, sensitivity, and selectivity measurements to calibrate devices. Coordinates with medical staff and vendors to troubleshoot problems, resolve equipment malfunctions and enable new devices. Additionally, Biomedical Engineering Technician supports medical staff with equipment operations training. Typically requires an associate degree. Typically requires Biomedical Equipment Technician (BMET). Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Biomedical Engineering Technician works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job. This is an entry level technician position for someone wanting a career in the field of biomedical engineering. Candidates are trained and certified to repair medical equipment and allowed opportunities to grow personally into roles of increasing responsibility based solely on their performance on the job.
Successful candidates could grow into more senior roles such as Technician I, Technician II, Technical Lead, etc. Career progression is guaranteed by increasing salary levels and is only limited by performance on the job. We Promote from Within!
All employees will receive on-the-job training and be guided by Senior Technicians throughout their employment. Every opportunity will be provided to ensure all candidates get the training they need to succeed in this position. Most technicians will be operating comfortably within 2 weeks and be quite proficient within 60 to 90 days. Successful candidates are confirmed as Tech 1 after 90 days and enjoy an adjustment of their salary levels at that time. We will review your attendance and production rate at these times and review your hourly pay.
Employees with no prior experience could learn about biomedical engineering from the ground up. Successful candidates will enjoy advancement and enjoy a long career in biomedical engineering. Third party training from manufacturers – we will train you and certify you on medical devices that the manufacturers give us. This means you will receive one of a kind – hands on training for medical devices while you work for us.
