Assembles, installs, repairs, and maintains a variety of medical equipment. Being a Biomedical Engineering Technician tests the functionality of equipment and takes accuracy, sensitivity, and selectivity measurements to calibrate devices. Coordinates with medical staff and vendors to troubleshoot problems, resolve equipment malfunctions and enable new devices. As the Biomedical Engineering Project Support Technician, you will have an integral role in contributing to the enrichment of our student experiences. You will serve as part of the Biology and Biomedical Engineering Educational Team by supervising, teaching, and serving as a resource for students within the laboratory and shop environment. You will provide continual support for design courses by teaching students machining skills, and appropriate safety training for machine use and the laboratory environment, advise on project design decisions and assist students in developing their individual proficiency in fabrication. Through providing laboratory experiences and equipment maintenance, our Biomedical Engineering and Project Support Technician will also maintain and organize Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology’s state-of-the-art biology and biomedical instructional and research laboratories.

Qualifications: Associate's degree in physical science, engineering technology or related field and two years’ related experience required; four years of related experience will be considered in lieu of Associate’s degree; experience in a machinist and/or technical related field preferred; experience in project-based fabrication and/or manufacturing field also preferred;; experience using manual machines such as a lathe or mill a plus. experience in machining, instrumentation, printed circuit board design and fabrication a plus; Willingness to learn new machining skills is required.
