Biomedical Engineering Technician delivers biomedical equipment services that provide safety testing, repair, maintenance, and user support of biomedical clinical and research equipment. Assembles, installs, repairs, and maintains a variety of medical equipment. Being a Biomedical Engineering Technician tests the functionality of equipment and takes accuracy, sensitivity, and selectivity measurements to calibrate devices. Coordinates with medical staff and vendors to troubleshoot problems, resolve equipment malfunctions and enable new devices. Additionally, Biomedical Engineering Technician supports medical staff with equipment operations training. Typically requires an associate degree. Typically requires Biomedical Equipment Technician (BMET). Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Biomedical Engineering Technician works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job. Purpose of Position
To assist the Biomedical Engineering (BME) program in its pilot project of instituting learning coaches. Learning coaches are hired to do three things:
1) review student work (like a TA)
2) Mentor students 1-on-1 weekly
3) mentor innovation projects weekly
The overall goal is to improve retention and encourage recruitment.
Duties & Responsibilities
Organize the learning coaches’ activities.
Review tokens as needed.
Required Competencies
Familiarity with innovation-based learning
Familiarity with anatomy and physiology from an engineering viewpoint.
Home computer and internet access
Minimum Requirements
A graduate engineering degree (M.S.)
Familiarity with innovation-Based Learning
Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check

Preferred Qualifications
Completing a Ph.D. or possessing Ph.D.
Experience in teaching engineering/teaching certification
Published in engineering education/ conferences
Experience in engineering teams
Expansive knowledge in innovation-based learning
