Biomedical Engineering Technician delivers biomedical equipment services that provide safety testing, repair, maintenance, and user support of biomedical clinical and research equipment. Assembles, installs, repairs, and maintains a variety of medical equipment. Being a Biomedical Engineering Technician tests the functionality of equipment and takes accuracy, sensitivity, and selectivity measurements to calibrate devices. Coordinates with medical staff and vendors to troubleshoot problems, resolve equipment malfunctions and enable new devices. Additionally, Biomedical Engineering Technician supports medical staff with equipment operations training. Typically requires an associate degree. Typically requires Biomedical Equipment Technician (BMET). Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Biomedical Engineering Technician works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job. Consumables Manufacturing Technician I - Second Shift

  • Nova Biomedical is hiring a Consumable Manufacturing Technician on the Second Shift (3:00 PM - 11:30 PM -- This includes a 10% Shift Differential) in our Waltham, MA facility. The technician will perform daily maintenance related activities for all consumable manufacturing to assure all quality and production goals are met. This person will also record all pertinent information as required in various documentation and logs, as needed, for all repairs. Other responsibilities include:

    • Perform repairs and troubleshoot, as needed, Consumable Manufacturing equipment, including coordinating with outside services for major repairs
    • Schedule maintenance activities daily with each manufacturing cell
    • Perform routine maintenance by means of written and/or verbal instruction for Consumable Manufacturing and coordinate preventative maintenance with outside vendors as needed
    • Maintain, inventory, and order spare parts needed to support equipment maintenance and repairs
    • Request quotes for new equipment per guidelines for purchasing of equipment
    • Meet with vendors and contractors as required
    • Training and guidance of all personnel on routine operation, troubleshooting and maintenance of equipment
    • Assist Consumable Engineers in repairs and IQ/OQ/PQ of equipment as needed

    Qualifications:

    • Read and write English and follow written/verbal instructions
    • Perform basic math
    • Solid mechanical aptitude/troubleshooting skills with ability to utilize hand tools and gauges
    • Working knowledge of Quality System Regulations (QSR)
    • Working knowledge of OSHA Safety Standards
    • Working knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP)
    • Working knowledge of electronic interface, PLC, process controls basics
    • Physical demands:
      • Must be able to perform tasks that may involve for extended periods of time standing, sitting, pushing, pulling, lifting, bending, kneeling, reaching, twisting, turning, climbing steps and carrying up to 40 pounds several times/hours a day
      • Require repetitive use of arms/wrist/hands while setting up/working with equipment/computer throughout the day
      • Will require use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and may include, but not limited to, safety glasses, safety shoes, lab coat, bouffant, gloves, hearing protection, face shield, nuisance mask, cartridge type respirator
      • Must have good hand/eye coordination and visual acuity
      • Must be able to distinguish color

    Skills and Competencies:

    • Good organization skills such as 5S
    • Intermediate knowledge of computers and MS Office
    • Positive attitude
    • Good interpersonal skills

    Education/Experience:

    • High school diploma or equivalent
    • 3 years' experience in a similar manufacturing environment is required
    • 2 years' experience in a Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) environment is required
    • Certification in related electronics applications is a plus
