Assistant Professor (Biomedical Engineering); Position Number 84678; the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Hawaii at Manoa (UHM) invites applications for a full-time, general funded, tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level, pending position clearance and availability of funds, to begin approximately August 1, 2024.
Applicants from all active research areas of Biomedical Engineering will be considered, with particular interest in next-generation diagnostics and digital health innovation. Broadly, the CoE seeks to recruit faculty with research interests aligned with a programmatic need in transformative point-of-care and remote diagnostic technologies for rural, remote, and underserved communities. Areas of special interest include wearables, continuous monitoring, quantitative and computational methods (including machine learning), and other emerging areas within biomedical technology at the forefront of translational medicine. This position is part of the College-wide effort to establish a leading interdisciplinary research team in the field of Biomedical Engineering. The successful candidate is expected to develop an excellent, externally funded research program. There is the possibility of collaborations with other researchers in the College of Engineering, College of Natural Sciences, John A. Burns School of Medicine, the UH Cancer Center, and the UH Center for Indigenous Innovation and Health Equity.
