Biomedical Engineering Director directs and coordinates biomedical equipment service operations that provide lifecycle management of biomedical clinical and research equipment including safety testing, repair, maintenance, and user support. Establishes standards and procedures for equipment maintenance, testing, calibration, documentation, and inventory processes. Being a Biomedical Engineering Director provides technical leadership and develops applicable training and resources for medical staff to ensure correct and safe operations of all equipment and devices. Works with vendors to maintain up-to-date information about new products and equipment upgrades. Additionally, Biomedical Engineering Director supports the equipment needs of all specialty areas including Radiology, Clinical Pathology, Cardiology, Respiratory Therapy, and others. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director or head of a unit/department. The Biomedical Engineering Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Biomedical Engineering Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience.     Job Summary
    Performs as a technical support for the Engineering Team and is responsible for assigned duties in support of Production and Research & Development.  Assists with various manufacturing problems, implementation activities, and issues arising pertaining to structures, equipment and machinery.  Supports with basic principles of science, engineering and mathematics to aid in assisting with the solutions/troubleshooting of technical problems in the production environment. 
    Primary Responsibilities
    • Uses basic principles of science, engineering and mathematics to aid in solving technical problems in the Operations/Engineering environment.
    • Assists the Engineers/Maintenance with solutions to manufacturing problems pertaining to structures, equipment and machinery.
    • Initiates Work Orders in the system and maintains a schedule for projects.
    • Assists Engineers and Operations with set-up of various machines, fixtures and equipment in Manufacturing.
    • Responsible for collecting data and recording results on various engineering projects.
    • With guidance from Supervisor, investigates various manufacturing problems, compiles pertinent data and presents results to appropriate leader.
    • Assists with Continuous Improvement projects within the Operations/Engineering department.
    • Performs other duties as may be assigned from time to time by Supervisor.
    • Maintains the highest ethical standards, even when challenged from above.
    • Understands and lives by Armtec’s ethics and business conduct policies.
    Qualifications
    • Must be well organized, detail oriented, knowledgeable of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and able to learn other Engineering apps, as needed.
    • Familiar with business math, internet, calculator, copier, telephone and fax machine.
    • Must be focused on Continuous Improvement in all aspects of the Plant.
    • Must show an outstanding degree of judgment, organization, planning, initiative, and flexibility. 
    • Must show accuracy, concentration, alertness, detail-oriented.
    • Must be able to work calmly and reasonably under pressure from demand for production and other exigencies. 
    • Lifting materials up to 50 pounds. 
    • Walking up and down steps, between buildings as the situation warrants.

    • 2 year Associate’s degree from an accredited college or equivalent.
    • 5-7 years experience in a manufacturing job setting.

    • Able to interface and work productively across all levels of the organization. 
    • Ability to read and write English.
