Biomedical Engineer applies engineering and scientific principles and methodologies to design and develop medical technologies and devices to support and enhance patient care and improve healthcare outcomes. Conducts research and testing to address specific medical conditions, improve the performance of existing devices, and develop new products. Being a Biomedical Engineer collaborates with medical professionals to gather information for product specifications. Ensures that designs and devices meet regulatory, safety, and quality requirements and standards, such as the FDA regulations and ISO standards. Additionally, Biomedical Engineer utilizes or develops software to perform testing or integrate with devices. Requires a bachelor's degree in biomedical engineering or a related engineering or science discipline. Typically reports to a manager. The Biomedical Engineer work is closely managed.     The actual compensation for this position will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.

    Responsibilities:

    • Manage the day-to-day responsibilities of the biomed engineers.
    • Oversees all biomed engineer functions, including budget, clinical technology planning, and clinical project management.
    • Oversees the installation, testing, calibrating and repairs of biomedical equipment, while maintaining safe operations.
    • Oversee the preventive maintenance schedules, ensuring the staff completes them on time and within the scheduled periods.
    • Manages vendors and service contracts, adhering to the agreed upon performance standards.
    • Directs all oversight of biomed equipment by conducting tests and evaluations.
    • Maintains all equipment inventory.
    • Oversees the biomed budget, and properly forecasts upgrades to equipment as needed.
    • Understand and comply with Joint Commission, and other governing bodies, as it relates to standards and regulations.
    • Responsible for working with the Human Resources Department in the hiring/interview/onboarding process. Determines, coordinates and supervises daily staffing assignments and staffing levels. Trains, coaches, and evaluates assigned staff on performance expectations. Applies progressive discipline when appropriate. Participates in hiring and termination procedures.
    • Complete annual and probationary evaluations and required employee job competency documentation.
    • Responsible for managing the review and approval of the timekeeping system, including but not limited to, time off requests, and bi-weekly payroll sign-off.
    • R esponsible for managing staff meal breaks to be in compliance with NYS labor law.

    • Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma/GED required. Associates degree in a technical/electronics field preferred.

    Minimum of three (3) years Biomed experience required.

    Minimum of three (3) years management experience in a related area preferred.

    Complex computer skills including the ability to interpret error codes, defragment hard-drives, replace power supplies, and interpret computer codes required.

    Must be able to speak, read, write and follow instructions in English.
