Biomedical Engineer applies engineering and scientific principles and methodologies to design and develop medical technologies and devices to support and enhance patient care and improve healthcare outcomes. Conducts research and testing to address specific medical conditions, improve the performance of existing devices, and develop new products. Being a Biomedical Engineer collaborates with medical professionals to gather information for product specifications. Ensures that designs and devices meet regulatory, safety, and quality requirements and standards, such as the FDA regulations and ISO standards. Additionally, Biomedical Engineer utilizes or develops software to perform testing or integrate with devices. Requires a bachelor's degree in biomedical engineering or a related engineering or science discipline. Typically reports to a manager. The Biomedical Engineer work is closely managed.     Key Responsibilities

     

    Specifically, we are seeking talented, highly motivated individuals who are broadly interested in the molecular and cellular basis of aging and age-related disease. Our research focuses on identifying the molecular changes that occur with age that contribute to development of age-related diseases, including but not limited to cancer biology. We are interested in understanding dysregulation of protein homeostasis with age and under cellular stress conditions, including the upstream regulatory signaling pathways and downstream targets of E3 ubiquitin ligases.

     

    Ideal candidate will be expected to develop the project independently and will also have the opportunity to interact and participate in other studies of our multidisciplinary group of aging and cancer researchers in the lab and throughout the department.     Successful candidates will have a recent doctorate in areas related to cell and molecular biology, protein degradation, cancer, and/or aging, supported by strong publications. Prior experience in mouse models of aging and/or cancer would be advantageous. 

     

    Candidates will also be asked to assist in training of laboratory staff and graduate students in research techniques as well as writing grant proposals. This is a full time, grant funded role.

     

    Qualifications

     

    • Applicants should have a Ph.D., M.D., or M.D./Ph.D. degree
    • Significant research accomplishments and scholarly promise
