Job Title: Freshwater Aquatic Biologist

Job Description: We are seeking a highly experienced Freshwater Aquatic Biologist to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have extensive expertise in freshwater ecology and a solid understanding of marine and estuarine habitats. As a Freshwater Aquatic Biologist, you will lead research projects, mentor junior staff, and contribute to the development of strategic initiatives aimed at conserving and restoring aquatic ecosystems.

Responsibilities:

• Design and execute field studies, surveys, and monitoring programs focused on freshwater ecosystems, with some involvement in marine and estuarine environments.
• Lead data collection efforts, including water quality sampling, habitat assessments, and biological surveys.
• Analyze data using advanced statistical methods and ecological modeling techniques to assess ecosystem health, biodiversity, and ecological processes.
• Develop and implement conservation and management strategies for freshwater resources, considering the interconnectedness of aquatic ecosystems.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, government agencies, NGOs, and academic institutions to address complex environmental challenges and inform policy decisions.
• Provide technical expertise and guidance to junior staff, interns, and project partners.
• Contribute to the preparation of scientific publications, grant proposals, and technical reports.
• Represent the organization at professional conferences, workshops, and stakeholder meetings.

Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in freshwater ecology, aquatic biology, environmental science, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience conducting research and fieldwork in freshwater ecosystems, with some exposure to marine or estuarine environments.
• Strong knowledge of freshwater ecology, hydrology, limnology, and ecosystem dynamics.
• Proficiency in data analysis using statistical software (e.g., R, Python) and GIS tools.
• Experience leading research projects, managing field teams, and coordinating multi-disciplinary collaborations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate scientific concepts effectively to diverse audiences.
• Demonstrated track record of publishing scientific papers, securing research grants, and presenting at conferences.
• Commitment to environmental stewardship, conservation principles, and ethical research practices.
