Position Summary

The Level 1 Payroll Tax Specialist is responsible to perform system processing and clerical duties that affect the timely and accurate submission of payroll taxes for CSC Paymaster’s tax filing service clients. They are also responsible to document and maintain accurate records necessary to the day-to-day operations of the Tax Department.

General Statement of Duties

• Process payroll tax payments, reports and quarterly reconciliations in compliance with applicable federal, state and local tax laws
• Daily and monthly tax cash and payment transaction reconciliation for multiple banks
• Quarterly reporting and reconciling of imported payroll information in compliance with applicable federal, state and local tax laws
• Efficient filing of daily, weekly, semi-monthly, monthly, quarterly and annual paper and/or electronic returns
• Respond to, research, and resolve payroll-related tax questions, concerns, and problems for clients, staff, and regulatory agencies in a timely manner
• Perform tax research on numerous diverse tax issues and respond to inquiries related to State and Federal taxes
• Process amended Federal and State tax returns as needed
• Coordinate with Implementation team to process, enter and balance prior service tax information
• Utilize, update and interface with MasterTax filing software for two different payroll systems
• Keep current with new and/or changes to payroll tax laws
• Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reviewing professional publications and attending training webinars
• Create and sustain a positive work environment that fosters team performance
• Provide quality customer service, maintain positive and strong relationships with clients and staff
• Perform additional duties as required

• Payroll service bureau experience a plus
• MasterTax software knowledge/experience a plus
• Kronos software knowledge/experience a plus
