Completes tasks including measuring, cutting, collating, inserting, folding, stapling, or gluing to produce finished bound products. Being a Bindery Technician sets up, operates, tends, and maintains bindery equipment. Inspects equipment for malfunctions, troubleshoots and resolves problems. Additionally, Bindery Technician follows all required quality and safety procedures. Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Bindery Technician works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. Duties:
- Set up and operate binding machines such as cutters, folders, stitchers, and collators
- Perform routine maintenance on bindery equipment to ensure optimal performance
- Follow job specifications to trim, fold, stitch, and assemble printed materials
- Inspect finished products for quality control and make adjustments as necessary
- Collaborate with other team members to meet production deadlines
- Assist with packaging and shipping of finished products as needed
Requirements:
- Willingness to learn to operate bindery equipment such as cutters, folders, stitchers, and collators, as well as sign production techniques
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain high quality standards
- Ability to read and interpret job specifications and work orders
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot machine issues
- Prior experience in a bindery or printing environment is preferred but not required
