Bindery Technician performs various machine and manual operations to complete print binding and finishing processes. Completes tasks including measuring, cutting, collating, inserting, folding, stapling, or gluing to produce finished bound products. Being a Bindery Technician sets up, operates, tends, and maintains bindery equipment. Inspects equipment for malfunctions, troubleshoots and resolves problems. Additionally, Bindery Technician follows all required quality and safety procedures. Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Bindery Technician works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. Overview:
Under the supervision of the Director and/or Managers, a Bindery Specialist is an entry level position which allows the employee to train, acquire and gain the skills and experience necessary within the department. Prepares printed materials for delivery or mailing. Independently operates various pieces of complex equipment.
Essential Job Functions:
Set up and operate a variety of equipment.
Ability to adjust and maintain equipment, including chemicals, inks, ink wells, cleaning solvents, plates, rollers and paper, etc.
Clean, oil and adjust equipment.
Operates Postal Web Applications, Satori Software and schedule shipping via contract carriers.
Electronically records and transmits data files via interfaces for shipping and storage.
Operate all equipment within area of bulk mail.
Willingness to be cross trained on other equipment.
Accurately sort and deliver mail, convey documents, parcels and equipment to designated locations and make occasional deliveries to district offices.
Regular and punctual attendance at work and maintain a professional attitude.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
