Bindery Technician performs various machine and manual operations to complete print binding and finishing processes. Completes tasks including measuring, cutting, collating, inserting, folding, stapling, or gluing to produce finished bound products. Being a Bindery Technician sets up, operates, tends, and maintains bindery equipment. Inspects equipment for malfunctions, troubleshoots and resolves problems. Additionally, Bindery Technician follows all required quality and safety procedures. Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Bindery Technician works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. Run the folder, tipper or cutter equipment to ensure that all equipment is performing at peak efficiency. Perform other duties as necessary. Experience with Saddle Stitch and Perfect Bound process and equipment.
Roles:
· Verify skid count at the beginning at each shift
· Ensure that all team members understand pertinent quality system standards, reporting deviations to department supervisor immediately
· Produce finished product within established specifications and quality standards
· Operate equipment at speeds that meet - or exceed - identified production standards, within established safety and quality guidelines and standard operating procedures
· Constantly monitor versions and quality of the product, immediately reporting any issues to Supervisor
· Ensure correct versions and counts
· Coordinate delivery and staging of raw material to equipment, ensuring minimal downtime between jobs
