Under the direction of the VP of Revenue Cycle, the Billing manager is responsible for managing a team of billing specialists and third-party relationships related to claim billing and revenue recovery.  The billing manager will also be responsible for ongoing improvement efforts in both front-end and back-end billing processes while focusing on improving the patient experience.  Mental health billing experience is preferred.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Hire and manage a team of billing specialists responsible for claim work, insurance outreach, and patient communications in an effort to maximize collection rates and improve patient experience
• Drive accountability by working with clinical and operations teams as well as third parties to develop RCM-related metrics and best-in-class results
• Field, research, and resolve patient billing inquiries received through multiple channels including telephone, email, and portal messages, among others
• Ability to research and resolve complex billing issues and provide feedback to leadership on root cause analysis
• Review EOBs and payments to ensure the correct processing of claims
• Work with insurance companies, payers, and other third parties to ensure timely submission and correct payment on claims
• Contact payers and/or patients to obtain required information to resolve claim issues and denials
• Review and process insurance and patient refunds
• Other duties as assigned 

REQUIREMENTS:

• 5-7 years of healthcare billing/RCM  experience, preferably in a mental/behavioral health setting, focused on working with EHR/RCM software, researching and resolving insurance claim issues (A/R), payment/EOB posting, and patient outreach
• 3-5 years of management or team leadership experience required

KNOWLEDGE/SKILL

• Experience providing direct feedback to providers and clinicians on coding opportunities
• Ability to maintain confidentiality according to HIPAA regulations
• Outstanding communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with patients, provider partners, and colleagues
• Open to professional and clinical feedback and interested in working in a supporting and collegial environment.

*The target range for this position is $70,000-$90,000. Individual pay may vary from the target range and is determined by a number of factors including certification, experience, location, internal pay equity, and other relevant business considerations.
