  • Big Tree Hospitality is looking for a Food and Beverage Operations Manager for our Eventide Oyster Co. and The Honey Paw locations in Portland, ME! While these two restaurants serve different styles of food, they share the common goal of being restaurants that create and sustain community (and a prep space!).     We’re seeking someone with a genuine passion for food, beverage, and hospitality with at least 5 years of restaurant management experience with increasing responsibility. The ideal applicant will be someone who is multifaceted with a professional demeanor and, a strong business acumen. The ideal candidate is self reliant, proactive and works best autonomously.

    This position will oversee training, leading, and supervision of both Eventide and The Honey Paw’s Front Of House teams, including front of house Managers while solving and assisting with maintenance upkeep throughout the building.

    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Help coordinate and support Managers to hire and terminate staff with Human Resources
    • Assist in hiring, training, and orientation of new FOH management with HR
    • Ongoing oversight of FOH mgmt. teams and delegation of mgmt. duties
    • Manage maintenance issues and schedule repairs/regular maintenance
    • Organize and run efficient inventory systems of FOH supplies, linens, and paper products
    • Be informed of and assist Big Tree Catering Events Director to schedule and book large party or buyout requests
    • Oversight of beverage programs including assisting bar managers with monthly inventory and menu changes
    • Produce timely and professional email correspondence
    • Monitor quality of product and workmanship of employees, providing guidance and criticism in productive formats when necessary
    • Identify and resolve issues that may detract from the creation of a positive work environment
    • Administer and enforce prompt, fair, and consistent policies in accordance with the company handbooks with the guidance/assistance of HR
    • Exercise exemplary judgment in all aspects of the position including interactions with employees, management, vendors, and guests

    Qualifications

    • Proven restaurant experience in multiple Front Of House positions, at least 5 years
    • Prior experience in leadership roles, at least 3 years preferred
    • Basic understanding of health and safety codes and basic food and beverage knowledge
    • Ability to multitask, maintain organization, and perform in a high-quality, time-efficient manner
    • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
    • Consistency in work level and approachable demeanor/up-beat attitude
    • Ability to manage a multitude of personalities while maintaining a positive and exciting work environment
    • Proficient in Microsoft Word & Excel
    • POS experience (Toast a plus!)
    • Fluent in English (writing, reading, speaking) and ability to communicate effectively and efficiently

    Physical Requirements

    • Ability to stand, work, and move around the floor for extended periods of time
    • Ability to twist, bend, carry, and move above head materials weighing up to 20 pounds
    • Ability to work with a computer and digital technology
    • Ability to focus on job duties and responsibilities in a loud kitchen space
