Bereavement Coordinator plans and provides bereavement counseling and support to survivors. Assesses individual needs and coordinates with multi-disciplinary teams to develop and deliver a holistic support plan. Being a Bereavement Coordinator guides survivors to appropriate bereavement resources. Facilitates grief support group sessions. Additionally, Bereavement Coordinator requires a bachelor's degree in social work. May require the applicable State License to Practice Clinical Social Work. Typically reports to a manager. Hospice Volunteers of Waterville Area (HVWA) is a volunteer-based, community supported hospice that provides non-medical support to individuals and their families at the end of life and throughout the grieving process. HVWA serves 27 towns in central Maine.
We are seeking a 32 hour/week Bereavement Services Coordinator. The Bereavement Services Coordinator (BSC) works closely with the Executive Director to plan and implement a diverse range of non-clinical grief support services for adults and children, including the program Hope’s Place for Grieving Children. The BSC is responsible for facilitating a welcoming and supportive process for individuals and families seeking grief support from the initial call to completion of services. The BSC is also responsible for recruiting, training, and supervising bereavement one-on-one volunteers and group facilitators. This position includes some education and outreach responsibilities.
