SCS Engineers is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Benefits Supervisor to join our Human Resources team. Reporting directly to the Benefits Manager, the Benefits Supervisor will play a pivotal role in administering employee benefits programs, with a special focus on our defined contribution plans including 401(k) and ESOP (Employee Stock Ownership Plan). This position offers a unique opportunity to work in a hybrid capacity, combining the flexibility of remote work with the collaborative environment of our Long Beach Headquarters.
How you can make an impact
- Assist with providing direction and oversight to benefits administration support team related to medical, dental, vision, life and AD&D, STD, LTD, EAP, FSA, tuition reimbursement, and student debt programs.
- Lead the administration and communication of ESOP, 401(k), and other Health and Wellness benefits as assigned.
- Function as day-to-day point of contact for ESOP, 401(k), and other benefit programs as assigned.
- Act as primary lead over annual ESOP allocation process which includes: interface with third party administrator, ensuring timeline of deliverables is developed and adhered to, generation of annual census, verification of allocations, distributions and diversifications, development and disbursement of required participant communications, providing plan updates to executive leadership as necessary.
- Act as primary lead over 401(k) plan administration which includes: interface with third party administrator, internal audits, review and audit of various third-party reports (address changes, status code feedback, deferral feedback, loan feedback, etc.), and other compliance-related and administrative duties as assigned.
- Act as Lead for ESOP and 401(k) annual audits, testing and employee communications (SPD, SAR, etc.), 5500 filings, and administration and distribution of hardship loans, QDROs and death benefits. Participation on the ESOP and 401(k) Administration Committee, which may include keeping other Committee members abreast of various program developments and changes.
- Function as the ESOP Culture Leader through ongoing knowledge development of employee ownership trends and best practices identified through conference attendance and networking opportunities. Make recommendations to incorporate learnings into internal practices.
- Collaborate with benefits team on employee engagement strategies related to retirement plans. Develop and implement impactful retirement-centric events and marketing communications with a focus on education, engagement and retention of our employee owners.
- Collaborate on development and administration of Employee Wellness Program.
- Help support employees on all benefits-related questions.
- Maintain knowledge of human resource industry trends and employment related legislation specific to benefits to ensure Company is up to date on compliance regulations.
- Respond to inquiries regarding defined contribution plan documents, policies and procedures, and provide appropriate training to management as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business or human resources preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years administering employee retirement and benefit plans required.
- Minimum of 2 years in a Supervisor role required.
- Supplementary training and/or designations (M.A., PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP) related to the human resource field, or equivalent education and experience, is preferred.

Pay range for this position is $75k to $95k depending on experience. This does not include bonuses or our Employee Stock Ownership Plan.
