    • Improve effectiveness of work methods and procedures and similar functions required by management.
    • Evaluate procedures, organizations, manpower utilization among other required functions delegated by management.
    • Responsible for answering calls from veterans and their dependents.
    • Greet agency and non-agency personnel and the public.
    • Prepare and process forms to authorize enrollments.
    • Monitor and update information in Share.
    • Formulate, present, execute, and analyze the processing of VRC subsistence allowance awards.

    Qualifications

    To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by 02/09/2024

    To qualify, applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade (GS-07) in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience is defined as: (1) Experience working with Vocational and Rehabilitation and Employment Chapter 31 and Chapter 36 programs; (2) experience working with contracting practices and procedures AND (3) experience working with Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment operations.


    OR

    Applicants may substitute education for the experience required. For grade (GS-09): a master's or equivalent graduate degree; or two (36 semester hours) full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; or LL.B. or J.D., if related. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to do the work.

    OR

    Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify. To calculate, first identify the percentage of required education you have earned. Only graduate level education in excess of the amount required for the next lower grade level may be used in combination with experience. For example, for grade GS-9, only graduate level education beyond the first year of study (18 semester hours or the equivalent) may be combined with experience to meet total qualifications. Likewise, for grade GS-11, only graduate level education beyond the first two years (36 semester hours or the equivalent) may be combined with experience to meet total qualifications. Example: The position to be filled is at grade GS-9. You have 6 months of specialized experience equivalent to grade GS-7, and you have completed 27 semester hours of graduate level education. You meet 50 percent of the qualifications required through experience. You also meet 50 percent of the qualifications required through experience. You are eligible because both percentages in this example together will add up to 100 percent. Your first year of graduate study is not qualifying for GS-9. Your first two years of graduate study are not qualifying for GS-11. In every case where combinations of experience education are used, the total percentage must equal at least 100 percent in order for you to be qualified.

    Work Schedule: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM. Alternate work schedules are available.

    Promotion Potential: There is no promotion potential for this position, as it is expected that this position will be filled at full performance grade level of GS-9.

    Physical Requirements: The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking, standing, bending or carrying of light items such as papers and books. Travel to other locations may be required.

    Receiving Service Credit for Earning Annual (Vacation) Leave: Federal employees earn annual leave at a rate (4, 6 or 8 hours per pay period) which is based on the number of years they have served as a Federal employee. VA may offer newly-appointed federal employee's credit for their job-related non-federal experience or active duty uniformed military service.
