Leave and Benefits Specialist

  • George Fox University's Office of People & Culture is in search of a Leave and Benefits Specialist who will serve as an integral part of the leave and benefits administration, as well as day-to-day operations of the People & Culture team.


    About the Job:

    The Leave and Benefits Specialist is responsible for the wellbeing of employees through exceptional service and compassion, as well as providing essential support to the office of People and Culture.


    Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Leave and Benefits (90%)
      • Leave Administration - Serves as the main point of contact for employees and supervisors as it relates to leaves of absence and ADA requests.
      • Prioritize and organize daily responsibilities to meet all deadlines.
      • Assist with various benefit related audits, administrative tasks and reconciliations.
      • Assist with benefits and wellness programming and events.
      • Respond to various benefit, leave and safety related inquiries
    • Office Management and HR Duties (10%)
      • Providing reception support
      • Greeting visitors, answering phone inquiries, and responding to emails in a timely and professional manner.
    • Associated Responsibilities
      • Delivering the Be Known promise to students, employees and others on a daily basis through excellent customer service.
      • Demonstrating flexibility and creativity in problem solving and serving our community.
      • Maintaining compliance within HR functional areas assigned.
      • Demonstrating a high level of integrity, discretion and confidentiality.
      • Completing special projects as assigned.
      • Utilizing strong detail oriented skills to ensure accuracy and the meeting of firm timelines.
    • Communicating effectively and courteously with others, including employees, students, and the public, in a spirit of teamwork, respect and customer service.
    • By actions, words, and lifestyle, be a Christian role model to students, whether through casual contact or in a formal supervisory role.
    • Demonstrating awareness, respect, and appreciation for diversity of culture, background, race, sex, political views, expressions of faith, etc. and works well with a variety of people.

    We're looking for candidates who have:

    • 1-2 years of experience in leave and benefits administration.
    • A genuine interest in employee experience and a high motivation to work autonomously and proactively.
    • The ability to maintain confidentiality, display discretion and protect the privacy of information.
    • Strong written and verbal communications skills.
    • A demonstrated professional attitude and excellent customer service skills.
    • A demonstrated strong attention to detail, organizational and analytical skills in a business setting.
    • A commitment to working with a diverse population of people is essential; demonstrated experience in this area is preferred.
    • Permanent and unrestricted work authorization in the United States.
    • A personal commitment to Jesus Christ and express their Christian testimony in a church. In addition, employees agree to live in agreement with the Community Lifestyle Statement and affirm the theological commitments expressed in the Statement of Faith.

    Job information:

    • Schedule: 30 hours per week (0.75 FTE)
    • Primary Work Location: Newberg Campus
    • Working Conditions: Physical requirements are those of a normal office environment.
