Behavioral Health Director oversees the study and treatment of patients with emotional, mental, or psychological disorders. Develops, implements, and updates strategic initiatives, programs, and services. Being a Behavioral Health Director manages and directs the operations of behavioral health services. Uses knowledge of behavioral health research and trends to ensure the department's practices are up-to-date and effective. Additionally, Behavioral Health Director establishes training programs and supports and supervises staff. Ensures all behavioral health operations comply with clinical guidelines and regulations. Requires an advanced degree in psychology or related field. Typically reports to top management. The Behavioral Health Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Responsibilities:
- Conduct diagnostic evaluations and patient assessments to determine behavioral health needs
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for patients with behavioral health concerns
- Provide behavioral therapy and interventions to individuals with autism spectrum disorder and other behavioral disorders
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to coordinate care and ensure comprehensive treatment
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records and documentation of patient progress
- Utilize medical terminology and knowledge of behavioral health practices in daily work
- Stay current on best practices in behavioral health through ongoing professional development
Requirements:
- Master's degree in a related field (e.g., psychology, social work, counseling, education)
- Experience working with children or individuals with autism spectrum disorder preferred
- Strong understanding of behavioral health principles and techniques
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Proficiency in medical terminology and record keeping
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
