Behavioral Health Director oversees the study and treatment of patients with emotional, mental, or psychological disorders. Develops, implements, and updates strategic initiatives, programs, and services. Being a Behavioral Health Director manages and directs the operations of behavioral health services. Uses knowledge of behavioral health research and trends to ensure the department's practices are up-to-date and effective. Additionally, Behavioral Health Director establishes training programs and supports and supervises staff. Ensures all behavioral health operations comply with clinical guidelines and regulations. Requires an advanced degree in psychology or related field. Typically reports to top management. The Behavioral Health Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Behavioral Health Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. Director of Clinical Services

  • The Director of Clinical Services for the facility and ensures & oversees the day-to-day operations of assigned clinical and social services staff. Responsible for providing direct supervision to employees assigned to the clinical department and provides guidance to all clinicians, therapists and social workers, regarding clinical programming and treatment expectations. Works directly with the Director of Nursing and other Senior Managers to ensure effective & safe therapeutic practices are being provided at all times. Ensures compliance with all regulatory and accreditation guidelines and expectations. Directly supervises therapists, social workers, and activity therapy staff. Works collaboratively with the Director of Medical Records on correction of delinquencies. Ensures compliance with requirements for and completion of all required documentation. Carries cases as needed, attends FLASH daily, Leadership Meetings weekly, Medical Executive Committee and Board of Governors meeting as needed and directed by the CEO. Performs performance appraisals and uses progressive discipline as needed in coordination with the Director of Human Resources. Ensures that clinical staff is providing quality therapeutic interventions, follow-up with referral sources, family communications as appropriate, aftercare and discharge planning, and that clinical staff are in compliance with all hospital policies and procedures. Works collaboratively with other hospital management staff and personnel to promote Service Excellence to patients and their families at all times. All other duties as assigned by the CEO.

    Work Demands/Environment:

    Ability to stoop, lift, finger – for example pick, pinch, type and grasp, ability to clearly and concisely express and exchange ideas via spoken word conveying detailed information to others accurately and on occasion quickly. Ability to perceive the nature of sounds with no less than a 40 db loss @ Hz, 1000 Hz and 2000 Hz with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication. Exerting up to 10 to 1 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Ability to inspect and analyze figures, accounting items, written materials, newsprint, computer terminal characters, transcription and other similar objects at distances generally close to the eyes. This is a minimum standard based on the criteria of accuracy and neatness of work. The worker is subject to inside environmental conditions: Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. Although inside work is the rule, it is required that the individual be able to travel.

    Qualifications

    Education: Master’s Degree in Social Work or related social science/health field

    Experience: A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a health care or social service industry preferred; prior supervisory experience necessary.

    Age-Specific Competencies: Children, Adolescents, Adults & Geriatrics

    Licensure/Certification: Social Worker Licensure

    Other: Supervisory skills; advanced clinical knowledge of best practices in the treatment of adults, children/adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients with severe emotional disturbances, psychiatric illnesses, chemical dependency and addictions as well as dual diagnosis. Knowledge of working with families; basic fiscal management skills; thorough familiarity with psychiatric healthcare terminology; excellent written and oral communication skills; knowledge of and skills in presentations for marketing purposes; creativity; flexibility; time management and organizational skills; skills in data collection and analysis, interpretation, application, and evaluation; strategic planning skills; record of adherence to deadlines; customer service skills; teaching or training skills; willingness to travel, including overnight travel, in work capacity. Skills in maintaining information as highly confidential.

    HIPAA: Has access to all PHI necessary to perform job functions of managing and directing departments and assuring compliance with standards of care.
