Behavioral Health Director oversees the study and treatment of patients with emotional, mental, or psychological disorders. Develops, implements, and updates strategic initiatives, programs, and services. Being a Behavioral Health Director manages and directs the operations of behavioral health services. Uses knowledge of behavioral health research and trends to ensure the department's practices are up-to-date and effective. Additionally, Behavioral Health Director establishes training programs and supports and supervises staff. Ensures all behavioral health operations comply with clinical guidelines and regulations. Requires an advanced degree in psychology or related field. Typically reports to top management. The Behavioral Health Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Behavioral Health Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.     Overview:  

     The Behavioral Health Clinician provides services to individuals, groups, families and communities to

    promote a healthy lifestyle for the individual with the goal of an improved healthy community for all

    stakeholders.  Maintain a non-threatening and welcoming environment while providing professionalism 

    to all individuals seeking services while adhering to readiness and preparedness to the individual being

    served.

     

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Conduct confidential, quality screening/assessments, that are gender-responsive and trauma-informed, utilizing ASAM-PPC2 criteria to determine the appropriate level of care.
    • Use of a holistic, evidence based, multi-occurring and trauma-informed approaches in working collaboratively with patients and all members to help support patients in their treatment and recovery.
    • Provide clinical consultation to referral resources, Mentors, family members, and others to help support patients in their recovery.  
    • Work closely with patients to engage them in the decision-making process and help them understand the benefits of assessment and engaging in treatment services; accessing the appropriate level of care as indicated.
    • Collect and review referral information of patients from the referral source and consult with others as needed to support coordination of services and scheduling of patient interviews.  
    • Coordinate with the Intake Coordinator as needed to contact patients to confirm appointment dates, times, and assessment locations.
    • Collect information from collateral resources to aid in determining diagnosis and need for treatment. 
    • Based on assessments, making referrals to appropriate providers to assist the individual with the best possible outcomes.  
    • Monitor patient access to and involvement with treatment and other providers while address barriers to treatment and the recovery process.
    • Model and support health and wellness activities and healthy coping skills for patients.
    • Work cooperatively with all referral sources to ensure coordination of services when appropriate. 
    • Complete paperwork requirements and maintain quality, up-to-date clinical records. Adhering to all approved and adopted policies of Zion Recovery Services governing clinical record maintenance/compliance.  
    • Maintain working knowledge of other drug and alcohol treatment agencies and programs and a list of resources that can be shared with patients.
    • Enforces confidentiality laws and assures patient rights; upholding the professional conduct and code of ethics as described in the personnel policies and agency treatment policies particularly with respect to confidentiality and professional and ethical standards.
    • Possesses knowledge of federal, states and local laws in reference to substance abuse and be aware of and comply with Department of Substance Abuse licensure requirements.
    • Remain in compliance with internal and external policies, procedures, regulations, and standards, including all of Zion Recovery Services policies and procedures and Quality Assurance, State Licensing standards.
    • Participate in all assigned meetings, staff development, and training as required
    • Adhering to ZION’s adopted evidenced-based curriculum.

      

    Requirements:

     

    • Must be able to obtain a T-CADC within 90 days from date of hire and a permanent CADC within one year.
    • Bachelors Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services
    • Combination of comparable skills, experience, and education. 
    • Understanding and supportive of the population being served.
    • Strong interpersonal and engagement skills.
    • Strong organizational and time-management skills and understanding to meet the organization’s standards for contact with patients.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Strong computer skills required; experience with EMR system a plus.
    • Ability to support the agency’s mission and philosophy, and demonstrate sensitivity to cultural diversity and workplace harmony.
    • Value for and ability to deliver excellent customer service.
    • Self-directed and flexible to meet the needs of administration and management.
    • Pursue personal development of skills and knowledge necessary for the effective performance of the role.
    • Responsibility for the upkeep, safety and health of office assigned.
