Behavioral Health Director oversees the study and treatment of patients with emotional, mental, or psychological disorders. Develops, implements, and updates strategic initiatives, programs, and services. Being a Behavioral Health Director manages and directs the operations of behavioral health services. Uses knowledge of behavioral health research and trends to ensure the department's practices are up-to-date and effective. Additionally, Behavioral Health Director establishes training programs and supports and supervises staff. Ensures all behavioral health operations comply with clinical guidelines and regulations. Requires an advanced degree in psychology or related field. Typically reports to top management. The Behavioral Health Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Behavioral Health Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. BEHAVIORAL HEALTH PROGRAM COORDINATOR

  • POSITION GOAL:     To provide technical assistance to schools and service providers in the implementation of school-based mental health services. To provide coaching and consulting support throughout the county to implement an integrated Multi-Tiered System of Support.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS:

     

    • Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree preferred) in social work, psychology, or a related field including coursework emphasis in behavioral science.
    • Demonstrate effective experience in problem solving of a technical nature.
    • Knowledge of State of Michigan Medicaid provisions, documents, evaluation releases, services, etc.
    • Possess a valid Michigan driver’s license.
    • Must be able to lift 30 pounds.
    • Demonstrate a capacity to learn quickly and share new learning with others.
    • Possess the ability to design and implement professional learning opportunities and provide consultant services to our local districts.
    • Demonstrate the ability to plan proactively and think systemically to determine the effect of a given action on the broader system.
    • Possess a collaborative leadership style and the ability to develop and maintain strong professional relationships in order to facilitate change.
    • Demonstrate skills in organization and the ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks with a deadline independently.
    • Responsibility of employee to obtain and maintain all training(s), certificate(s), approval(s), etc. and provide documentation to the business office before expiration date of said document(s).
    • Required to have a physical presence at the designated jo site each scheduled work day
    • Must have regular and reliable job attendance, performance, and the physical ability to do the job.

     

     

     

    PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

     

    1. Facilitate and support ISD/District/School Behavioral Health Assessment Team meetings and trainings.
    2. Coordinate communication with providers, external stakeholders, families, CMH, and other social services agencies.
    3. Develop and maintain a behavioral health community resource map.
    4. Support Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) systems integration, including providing proactive, preventative coaching/consulting supports and respond to emerging needs to promote a safe and healthy learning environment.
    5. Support behavioral health providers where appropriate.
    6. Provide primary facilitation and support for the BHWorks program.
    7. Compile data necessary to measure outcomes and performance of behavioral health program.
    8. Develop and maintain positive interpersonal relationships with coworkers and in pubic relationships projecting a positive public image of the ISD and its programs and services.
    9. Use excellent written and verbal communication skills with parents, staff, and community members to effectively assist administrators and providers in coordinating and promoting programs and services.
    10. Use various and emerging technologies to prepare correspondence, guidance, surveys, reports, grants, forms, workshop materials, data bases, and other work as requested or required in the coordination of programs and services.
    11. Work with the Medicaid Coordinator to update all administrative and provider staff in all Medicaid functions.
    12. Assist with data collection of information concerning C4S Medicaid billing and all other required state data collections related to programs and services.
    13. Assist in the preparation of grant applications and reports.
    14. Maintain honesty and integrity in all working relations and job functions.
    15. Maintain discretion and confidentiality of all information to protect individuals’ and students’ rights to privacy and confidentiality.
    16. Collaborate as a team and support other ISD staff members.
    17. In the future, could take the tasks of the Homeless Liaison.
    18. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director of ILD and SEL

    PERFORMANCE APPRAISALS:  Director of Instructional Leadership and Social Emotional Learning

     

    TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:      A 230-day position. Salary and conditions of employment are determined by the Board of Education.
