Behavioral Health Director oversees the study and treatment of patients with emotional, mental, or psychological disorders. Develops, implements, and updates strategic initiatives, programs, and services. Being a Behavioral Health Director manages and directs the operations of behavioral health services. Uses knowledge of behavioral health research and trends to ensure the department's practices are up-to-date and effective. Additionally, Behavioral Health Director establishes training programs and supports and supervises staff. Ensures all behavioral health operations comply with clinical guidelines and regulations. Requires an advanced degree in psychology or related field. Typically reports to top management. The Behavioral Health Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Behavioral Health Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.     Palmetto Summerville provides residential treatment for children, teens and young adults, ages 7 to 21, suffering from a variety of psychiatric illnesses (e.g., Trauma Recovery, Conduct Disorder, Mood Disorder, ADHD, PTSD and Substance Use). Our 64-bed program embraces the developmental model approach for the treatment of psychiatric, behavior/conduct, mood attachment and trauma.     The Director of Nursing
    is a key member of the Palmetto Summerville Leadership Team who will integrate and coordinate a patient centric nursing strategy with a hands-on approach and keen focus on patient care; ensuring that delivery of high-quality and cost-effective health care is consistent with the mission, vision, and values of Universal Health Services and in accordance with government regulation, licensing and accreditation requirements. The DON participates in the hospital’s strategic planning and contributes to the achievement of institutional goals and objectives. The Director of Nursing will focus on 5 key areas: People, Service, Quality, Growth, and Finance.

    Qualifications:
    Job Requirements:
    • Licensure: Current license or permit to practice professional nursing in the state of SC.
    • Bachelor of Science in Nursing from a CCNE accredited nursing program; Master of Science in Nursing is strongly preferred.
    • Demonstrated working knowledge of behavioral health nursing clinical practices and management.
    • Extensive knowledge of principles and practices relevant to nursing and patient care activities.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of effective management and supervisory practices. Highly developed written and verbal communication skills.
    • Three or more years of progressive nursing management experience in behavioral health setting
    • Ability to plan, direct, and monitor others’ activities with demonstrated leadership abilities that contribute to a positive work environment
