Barista greets customers, identifies their needs, and answers questions about menu items. Prepares and serves hot and cold beverages such as coffee, espresso, cappuccino, tea, chai, and similar beverages. Being a Barista may prepare and serve limited food items. Records sales, operates a cash register, and follows cash handling policies as required. Additionally, Barista may assist with store set-up, clean-up, and stocking of merchandise. May require a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Barista works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Job Summary: This position prepares specialty beverages such as espresso, teas and smoothies, as well as prepared bakery products. This position also oversees sales from the gift shop. This position reports to the Chef.
Duties/Responsibilities:
• Ensures proper set-up, tear-down and disinfection of café and equipment.
• Prepares beverages for customers.
• Processes financial transactions for food, beverage and gift shop items.
• Ensures stock levels of gift shop items.
• Maintains pleasant appearance of gift shop.
• Provides back-up assistance as Kitchen Assistant as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
• Knowledge of food health and safety regulations.
• The ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Retail experience preferred.
• Excellent customer service skills.
Education and Experience:
• High school diploma or equivalent if less than 21 years of age.
Physical Requirements:
• Extended period of up to 8 hours of standing.
• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
