Our definition of a barista is someone who exemplifies customer service, hospitality, strives to be an expert in coffee, and is a dedicated team communicator.
- The barista role is a part- or full-time position. We are looking for all hours of availability, though most of our cafes are currently early morning through late afternoon. We recommend that you have flexible weekend availability, as these are our busiest hours.

- Must like talking to people. This is non-negotiable. While we are coffee professionals, we also recognize that a large part of our role is making our customers feel at home while giving them a top-notch coffee experience. This means treating all customers with empathy, and enthusiastically guiding them towards products or drinks that would fit their needs.
- Respond to questions, orders, and concerns with patience, confidence, and professionalism, addressing any negative feedback constructively.
- Engage customers about their drink preferences and tailor suggestions accordingly.
- Facilitate natural dialogue with customers regarding other product offerings, including whole bean coffee, tea, food offerings, merchandise, as well as any current promotions.
- Be an ambassador of Barista Parlor’s vision and brand, both behind the bar and at the front of the house.
- Following and contributing to all daily, weekly, and monthly tasks to upkeep the operations of the café.
- Prompt on-time arrival to scheduled shifts.
- After training, must be able to articulate and maintain all coffee standards and recipes for drinks, espresso, pour over, batch brew, cold brew, and the like.
- Must complete daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning and upkeep tasks as advised by GM and store leadership.
Job Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in hospitality role. (Specialty coffee experience is a plus, but is not a requirement).
- If you have speciality coffee experience but hate people, please don't apply.
- You must have a passion for engaging with and developing customer relationships.
- An ability to multitask, solving problems quickly and efficiently.
- You must have consistent availability for this role and must be able to commit to at least (2) shifts per week.
- Completion of the required training modules contained in the Retail Training Manual, and of other training modules.
- Maintain coffee knowledge on current offerings and confidently and accurately communicate product information to customers.
- Actively take part in coffee and tea tastings to further product knowledge and help identify correct dials and/or errors on bar.
- Demonstrate an ongoing desire to pursue education, training, and industry trends.
- You may be asked to carry up to 50lbs of weight as a team.
Compensation:
- Compensation is based on experience. $9-$11/hour depending on experience.
