Banquet Manager plans, directs and coordinates banquets held within the establishment. Negotiates contracts, assists in the selection of menu items, schedules banquet staff, arranges for facilities or equipment, and communicates customer needs to the appropriate personnel. Being a Banquet Manager develops and maintains banquet accounts by ensuring customer satisfaction before, during, and after the event. May require a bachelor's degree. Additionally, Banquet Manager typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Banquet Manager supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. Thorough knowledge of department processes. To be a Banquet Manager typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor.     Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

    • Collaborate with DOS/DOFB/General sales team to detail contracted group business with a principal focus on weddings/coach beginning at the point the contract has been signed.
    • Works with group from contract inception through function service.

    • Maintain up-to-date awareness of activities at the lodge.
    • Presents a professional image consistent with TFL standards.
    • Maintains awareness at all times of the effect of actions upon the experience of the guest.
    • Work with other TFL staff to establish a communication path and to ensure that needs of clients are met during their stay.
    • Manages the flow of information from the sales department to all other departments through the use of written and verbal communication that ensures the necessary information is received by all departments in a timely manner (ie. booking notices).
    • Attends pre-conference meetings with staff, and client, reviewing specifics of a function.
    • Attends weekly Ops and BEO meetings.
    • Reviews customer complaints with relevant staff and develops strategies for all areas of concern. Responds to guest complaints in a timely and appropriate fashion.
    • Exhibits teamwork, concern and understanding of the role of all other departments as it pertains to meeting the group’s needs.
    • Coordinates hiring, scheduling, training and general supervision of all banquet and set up staff.


    Supervisory Responsibilities


    Directly supervises employees in the Banquet Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
