    Job Summary

    We are looking for an organized and efficient Pastry Chef. The ideal candidate is passionate about your work, excited to work with a new and noteworthy team, not concerned with ego or drama, and will work diligently towards building an exceptional experience together.

    Under the direction of the Executive Chef and Sous Chef, you will work with other kitchen staff members on preparing all menu items, executing operations during meal service, and ensuring all pastry items are served to guests to meet the highest quality standards.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Knowledge of how baking ingredients work together and how they can be used in creative ways, and demonstrate a wide variety of pastry and baking techniques
    • Time management skills to deliver orders on schedule and avoiding wasting food
    • Operate and manage the pastry section of a kitchen, working together with the other chefs
    • Prepare a variety of baked goods
    • Creativity to design new and unique menu items to attract customers
    • Decorate and present pastries and baked goods in a tasteful and beautiful way
    • Monitor and order ingredients, supplies and equipment
    • Meet with customers to discuss custom-made desserts or baked goods for special occasions
    • Ensure the bakery section of the kitchen adheres to health and safety regulations
    • Develop new seasonal recipes and menus and keep up with the latest trends
    • Assist with the preparation of food menus
    • Make sure that all plates that leave the kitchen meet taste and design standards
    • Ensure that the kitchen operates efficiently and professionally
    • Confirm compliance with all sanitation and health and safety standards
    • Fill in for the executive chef when necessary

    Requirements and Qualifications

    • 2 years of experience as a pastry chef
    • Knowledge of food preparation and existing health and safety standards
    • Ability to effectively work on a tight knit team
    • Strong communication skills
    • Collaborative attitude with an emphasis on excellent customer service
    • Proficient in the following dimensions of restaurant functions: food and beverage planning and preparation, purchasing, sanitation, security, company policies and procedures, personnel management, record keeping, and preparation of reports.
    • Must be eligible to work in the United States.

    Accountabilities

    • Completes job responsibilities and performance objectives in a timely and effective manner and in accordance with Mason Jar Group policies and procedures.
    • Maintains a favorable working relationship with all company employees to foster and promote a cooperative and harmonious working climate conducive to maximum employee morale, productivity, and efficiency/effectiveness.
    • Performs other duties and responsibilities as required or requested.
