DCH is currently seeking a Business Operations Manager for the Medical Assistance Plans Executive Director’s Office The candidate will act as Chief of Staff to the Executive Director and work on the highest level of planning and support within the organization for the Medical Assistance Plans Executive Director and senior staff. This is a hybrid position based in downtown Atlanta, Georgia, that requires in-office and remote work with the approval of the supervisor. The days and frequency in the office can change at any time during employment based on the business needs of the organization.
Plans and assists with operational, and programmatic activities for a department, agency or facility. Recommends and implements policies and procedures. Directs subordinate managers and staff. Will provide some direction and influence on agency policy. Provides leadership across multiple units, departments, and/or regions.
- Ensures the Executive Director of the Medical Assistance Plans Division is kept informed of programmatic activities including the status of new and ongoing initiatives.
- Acts as ambassador on behalf of the Executive Director and the Division both with internal and external stakeholders to promote the four priorities of Customer Service, Communication, Teamwork and Accountability.
- Stays abreast of changes in state and federal policy and regulations, both implemented and proposed, that impact the Division and brings them to the Executive Director.
- Identifies division-wide areas for improvement; makes informed recommendations to resolve identified areas of concern.
- Collaborate with the executive team to develop and execute strategic initiatives. Help define organizational goals and objectives.
- Oversee special projects and initiatives on behalf of the executive. Coordinate cross-functional teams and ensure timely completion of projects.
- Assist in managing sensitive situations that may arise, providing support and guidance to the executive and the organization.
- Consults with Division Leadership team members for input and recommendations when evaluating and assessing the impact of proposed courses of action.
- Provides guidance, coaching, and feedback to Division directors and subordinate managers.
- At the Executive Director’s direction, delegates tasks, establishes deadlines, and holds self and others to a standard of accountability.
- May supervise staff.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field AND Five years of experience managing professional level staff OR Nine years of experience AND Five years of management experience at the level equivalent to area of assignment OR Five years of experience at the lower level Sr Mgr, Business Ops (GSM012). Note: An equivalent combination of education and job specific experience that provided the knowledge, experience and competencies required to successfully perform the job at the level listed may be substituted on a year-over-year basis.
AGENCY PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Preference will be given to candidates, who in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess the following:
Experience in State of Georgia government.
Experience working with Medicaid programs, which may include program administration, policy development, and/or beneficiary experience.
General knowledge of health policy and current state and federal health issues.
Three or more years of executive level management experience.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Extremely well organized and detail oriented.
Ability to stay calm & work under pressure towards deadlines and adjust to changing priorities.
Ability to work independently without constant oversight.
Proficient Microsoft Word, Excel & PowerPoint.
Proficient with Outlook.
