    Job Summary

    The AVP of Finance analyzes and communicates risk related to interest rates, credit, liquidity, the balance sheet, and the income statement. Directs such functions as budgeting, financial statement preparation, financial analysis/reporting along with management reports presented to senior management and the Board of Directors. The ability to think strategically, analytically, stay organized with effective written and verbal communication skills is required as this position will engage with vendors, members, and employees at all levels of the credit union.

    Requirements

    Major Duties and Responsibilities

    • Responsible for the overall management of Accounting staff with accountability for smooth functioning of the department, and quality and quantity of work. Will work toward maximizing efficiencies and automation of processes whenever possible. 
    • Ensure strong management of Accounting functions which include accounts payable, cash management, fixed assets, general ledger, budget, and investments. Ensure timely and accurate recording of transactions and accounting activities.
    • Monitor and analyze the Current Expected Credit Loss (CECL) framework to ensure financial compliance, operational management, and business reporting. Review and enhance methodologies and assumptions for accuracy. 
    • Participate in preparing and reviewing the Credit Union’s financial reporting. Help facilitate the ALM function, including preparation of ALM modeling and assumptions. 
    • Assist with preparation of quarterly Call Report, annual tax returns, 1099 reporting, and internal/external audits. 
    • Prepare projections, financial modeling, profitability analyses, and product feasibility studies. 


    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance 
    • Minimum 5 years Accounting/Finance experience in the financial services industry with a clear understanding of account principles. 
    • Working experience supervising staff with 3 years of manager experience with the ability to lead others through staff motivation and team building.
    • Demonstrated advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Power BI. 
    • Must be analytical, detail-oriented, organized, and a strategic thinker.
    • Advanced MS Excel skills, including macros, pivot tables, SQL tables, loading and manipulating data required. 
    • Proven superior interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
