ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Customer service. Provide friendly, helpful customer service by projecting an approachable presence, greeting and thanking each customer. Respond knowledgeably to customer questions about coop policies and products and refer customers to other employees/resources as needed.
- Accuracy. Provide accurate customer service and ensure the correct accounting of transactions by using correct prices, departments, and codes. Receive payment in full for purchases; return accurate change. Balance cash drawers at the end of the shift and complete readable, accurate day sheets.
- Speed. Facilitate the movement of check-out lines by maintaining the department standard for rings-per-minute. Call for back-up as needed to ensure optimal customer service and smooth traffic flow. Assist with price checks, shopbacks, and returns.
- Bagging. Cover bagging shifts as assigned. See "Bagger" job description.
- Work area maintenance. Maintain Front End area and parking lots/sidewalks in a clean, orderly condition by organizing carts and baskets, replenishing bags, maintaining register supplies, sweeping/mopping, picking up litter, emptying trash, shoveling snow, and performing other tasks as applicable.
- Security. Follow security procedures. Ensure a safe working/shopping environment by alerting Front End Coordinator or Night Manager to loitering/panhandling activity. Prevent shoplifting through awareness, proactive customer service, and reporting suspicious activity to Front End Coordinator or Night Manager.
- Communication and cooperation. Attend Front End department meetings and communicate regularly with other Front End staff to ensure department cohesion and customer satisfaction. Help train new cashiers/baggers as directed by Front End management.
- Safety. Work in a safe manner, following safety procedures.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by Front End management.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience:
- Required: At least 6 months' face-to-face customer service experience
- Required: Some cash-handling experience
- Preferred: Some experience in a busy retail environment
Skills:
- Required: Demonstrated customer service skills, including ability to project friendly, outgoing presence
- Preferred: Demonstrated ability to deal respectfully with challenging people
- Preferred: Demonstrated ability to work well with others in fast-paced team environment
- Demonstrated ability to work with customers and coworkers from diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Ability to work with TCCP to create an inclusive environment where all are welcomed.

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Prolonged moving on the sales floor
- Ability to perform continuous fine work and gripping with hands
- Corrected vision to enable reading small print
- Frequent reaching, bending, twisting, and rotating
- Ability to lift 30 lbs. repeatedly, up to 50 lbs. occasionally
- Ability to work outdoors, sometimes under extreme temperature and weather conditions
- Ability to move around the sales floor and parking areas quickly
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
