Aviation Manager manages overall aviation operations focused on operational efficiency and compliance with regulatory and organizational operating policies, procedures, and standards. Develops plans and schedules skill development and training sessions for pilots, crews, and operators.     The University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) is accepting resumes for a full-time, exempt position beginning in October of 2022 in Aviation. This is a working manager position and may require duties at both the UMES home campus in Princess Anne, Maryland and the satellite location at the Prince Georges Community College in Largo, Maryland. Salary is commensurate background, experience and credentials.

    The UMES Aviation Science degree program prepares students with the technical and professional skills and disciplines necessary for the operation and management of aviation enterprises including piloting, business management and administration.

    Responsibilities
    • Perform maintenance, preventative maintenance, and troubleshooting, on all aircraft in accordance to applicable Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Regulations.
    • Perform inspections, component removal and replacement for all aircraft systems including avionics.
    • Ensure that all UMES aircraft are properly cleaned, maintained and repaired.
    • Coordinate aircraft maintenance schedules with the Chief Flight Instructor and additional maintenance facilities if required.
    • Order and manage supplies and repair parts needed for proper maintenance of UMES aircraft.
    • Maintain accurate records, including logbook entries, as required by the FAA.
    • Maintain an up-to-date inventory of cleaning supplies, tools and equipment and aircraft parts.
    • Work with and continue building working relationships with external maintenance providers.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Required Qualifications
    • Bachelor’s degree.
    • Two years Cessna single engine maintenance experience.
    • FAA Aviation Mechanic with Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) ratings.
    • Valid driver’s license.
    • Must supply own basic hand tools as required for maintaining general aviation aircraft.

    Preferred Qualifications
    • FAA Inspection Authorization (IA).
    • Cessna Factory School certification.
    • Five or more years Cessna single engine maintenance experience.
    • Garmin G1000, NAV Ill and GFC700 experience.
    • Previous leadership role with proven track record

    Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
    • Thorough understanding of aircraft maintenance procedures and practices and FAA policies and procedures.
    • Ability to ensure aircraft fleet is maintained in accordance to FAR part 91 and FAR part 43.
    • Ability to work multiple shifts as required by flight schedule, to include nights, weekends, and holidays.
    • Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, colleagues and students.
    • Computer proficiency with Microsoft Windows 10, Excel and Word.
    • Ability to pass drug screen and background checks.
    • Must supply own basic hand tools as required for maintaining general aviation aircraft.

    Certifications/Registrations
    • Valid driver’s license.
