We are seeking an experienced Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist to join our team. As an EHS Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with occupational health and safety regulations and promoting a culture of safety within the organization. This is a vital role in maintaining a safe and healthy work environment for our employees.
Position Summary:
The Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Specialist focuses on providing safety management support, including inspecting, observing, and reporting safe work practice status to Management. The position will focus mainly on ensuring safe work practices related to work performed throughout the facility.
As an EHS Specialist, you will collaborate with Process Owner’s on job site safety to facilitate safe work practices, identify hazards and advise mitigations, embrace Avex safety culture expectations. Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with Supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment.
This position works to promote a safe work environment by confirming that employees clearly understand the roles and responsibilities related to tasks and duties of the day.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
· Develop/Implement safety programs that protect workers and the environment from hazardous conditions
· Provide training on environmental health and safety topics
· Ensure EHS programs are effective and compliant with all relevant (local, state, national) regulations
· Completes all required OSHA and Environmental Reports
· Routinely conduct worksite audits and inspections
· Report all observation results to the Quality & Safety Manager and appropriate Process Owner(s)
· Observe equipment movement and work activities at the job site
· Observe employee adherence to PPE and Avex safety policies
· Visually inspect safety equipment (clearance to fire extinguishers, eyewash stations etc.)
· Visually inspect waste totes for proper packaging, signage etc. – (Haz Waste Report)
· Monitor Spill Kit inventory
· Activate and visually inspect working condition of eyewash stations weekly
· Inspect job site for hazards (e.g. exposed wiring, broken equipment, trip hazards etc.)
· Assist in transport of injured employees to the clinic – a valid driver’s license is required.
· Maintain confidentiality when handling or processing employee’s personal data and medical records
· Adhere to Avex Safety Policies and promote Safety Culture
· Assist with scanning of records such as PPE equipment inspections and incident reports
· Spot check Safety Data Sheet (SDS) availability
· Computer skills required for reporting and tracking
· Weekends and shift work as needed.

Academic Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required
Languages
Must be able to read, write, and speak effectively in English regarding safety sensitive work activities, per FAA requirements. Bi-lingual (Spanish) is a plus.
